Episode 4

Meanwhile, Khase wakes up in the same place. His head hurts badly. From a mile away, he heard loud noises. He was in a daze before snapping out of it and looking back and realizing that the race was still going. He silently cursed himself.

Kelly: You're awake.

Khase: So you’re the one who knocked me out.

Kelly: It’s only fair to see who is better.

Khase: Tch, that’s what nobody says.

Kelly: Yet, you can’t stop me.

Khase: Well, I don’t hit girls. At least I’m a gentleman.

Kelly: But you’ll let a girl die? Someone with your power and role can stop this.

Khase: Why should I? I don’t know her, and just because I’m a gentleman doesn’t mean I’m a hero.

Kelly: You have no rights to call yourself a gentleman when you don’t care if someone dies.

Khase: That’s smart coming from you.

Kelly: At least I’m not selfish and let the person I care the most about win by cheating instead of letting themselves prove themselves worthy enough to win!

Khase: That is not my problem. You can yell all you want, but you will never be heard. Go back to your fantasy world and let me do what I need to do.

Kelly was fuming. She hit Khase with a brick she hid from him, knocking him out cold once again. She knew talking out with someone like him is impossible.

Kelly went back with the rest of the crowd and saw that Addi was in the lead. She worried for Sonia’s safety. She doesn’t want the same thing that happened to Martin.

Kelly: You got this.

The crowd was split into two, one cheering for Addi and the other for Sonia.

Announcer: It’s been a while, and we can see that our Cold Duchess is in the lead. Though the Fallen Rose isn’t too far behind either!

[Calculating Average speed…]

Sonia was pushing her limits to get past Addi.

[ Speed: 53 ]

Sonia knew she couldn’t keep up anymore. She was out of breath and can tell that her opponent is not reacting the same way as her.

Sonia: Please, I am almost there..
Seconds later, the elder gnome and his people all came out of bushes and trees. They all gathered in front of Addi, blocking her way.

Addi: Hey! Get out of my way!

Sonia also stopped in her tracks not too far from Addi.

The elder gnome: You dirty cheating witch! You will suffer the same consequence your kind had suffered decades ago!

Addi: What–?

Sonia was stunned. They couldn’t possibly mean that.

Announcer: Wow, will you look at that our Fallen Rose had an alliance with the gnomes, one of the most relatable creatures in all fantasy! I sure didn’t expect her to make an alliance with the gnomes speaking of gnomes many years ago gnomes were one of the few creatures to ever exist in fiction they are partaken as humans. They worked day and night to provide the trees, and no one seemed to credit them for their labor. Hmm, well, at least our Fallen Rose cared.

The elder gnome: Burn the witch!

All the gnomes raised their sticks with fires and charged at her. She quickly reacted and sped the other way. Sonia worried but didn’t want to let this opportunity go. She rode her skateboard and reached the golden doors. She entered inside and turned back to see the elder gnome wave his goodbye and with a smile. Sonia looked forward, slightly relieved.

Announcer: We have a winner!

Sonia watched as the golden doors shut behind her. She didn’t know how to feel. Kelly went up behind her and hugged her tight.

Kelly: I knew you could do it!

She cried tears of joy. Sonia completely forgot about everything around her when she was with Kelly. She laughed in relief.

Sonia: Yeah, I could never let you down!

Khase just stood there watching the screen. He looked back at the two with envy and hatred. His eyes puffed up as he wanted to cry but knew he couldn’t. He quickly ran away from the crowd. Everyone else just left as usual.
