THE BRITISH GIRL WAITED BY THE PHONE, praying for the call she's been waiting for her whole life

THE BRITISH GIRL WAITED BY THE PHONE, praying for the call she's been waiting for her whole life. all the times she's had panic attacks backstage, the times her voice has cracked on stage. all those moments led her to here. or at least, she hopes.

"whatcha doing?" bee jumped on the black-haired girl, startling her.

"fuck you bee. i'm waiting for that call." matilda stated, rolling her eyes at her friend. bee sat down, staring at the phone along with matilda.

"soooo, when is it coming in?"

"I DON'T KNOW!" matilda cried out, slumping down to the floor, frowning. "i've worked so hard, and my manager has never lied to me before. why would she do it now?" the girl sniffled.

"aw tilly, i bet they'll call any min—" bee was interpreted by the phone ringing.

"OH MY GOD!" matilda screamed, jumping off the floor and grabbing the phone. "HELLO?"

the girl listened to the person on the other end for about five seconds, before hanging up. "it was my mom." she said, rolling her eyes.

"YOU HUNG UP ON YOUR MOM?" bee yelled.

"SHE WASN'T MY MANAGER SO YES, I DID." matilda sat back down on the floor with her arms crossed.

"i don't understand why they just don't call you from, i don't know, a mobile phone, instead of a fucking landline. like who the fuck has landlines anymore?" bee ranted.

"obviously me." matilda said, pointing up to the landline she's been 'patiently' waiting for a call to come through on. "can they please just call already?" she pleaded.

"lee, you just gotta be patient. if it happens, they'll call." bee tried to comfort the girl on the floor, but to no avail.

"I DON'T WANT TO BE PATIENT. i've waited my whole life for this moment. for this opportunity. it's an honor just to be mentioned, but i wanna know if i get to." after matilda finished her rant, the phone rang. she gasped, and slowly got up to answer it. bee waved for her to go on. matilda answered the phone. "hello?"

the girl listened to the person on the other end for longer than five seconds this time, for about two minutes, only saying 'mhm', 'yes', 'okay', and 'thank you' at the very end. she then hung up the phone and turned around to look at bee.
