Sonny jolted awake, clutching his chest. He breathed heavily as a bead of sweat dripped down his forehead.

"It was just a dream, Sonny. Nothing more than a stupid dream." Sonny thought as he took a couple of deep breaths.

Sonny glanced around the large tree which he had been living under for the past four years. Everything looked the same except a light sheet of snow that blanketed the ground.

"That's why I had poor sleep." Sonny thought, shaking the snow out of his hair.

"Why can't evles be hot blooded?"

Sonny got up from the cold and wet ground and grabbed his brown fleece shawl, and made his way to the mirror that was embedded into the large oak tree.

He stood in front of the mirror, throwing his shawl on. Sonny looked at himself, remembering how his mother would call him handsome.

Sonny was, in fact, handsome. He had a darker complexion with too many freckles to count. He had wavy dirty blonde hair that was almost always a mess. To top it all off, he had amber eyes, the kind only the high elders in his elven tribe had.

As Sonny tried to smooth out his wild hair, a sudden movement from behind him made his ears perk up.

He looked back to see his dog, Waxi, doing his morning stretch.

Waxi sneezed a fire ball that melted a patch of snow off the ground, revealing the lush green grass from beneath it.

Waxi barked happily seeing his owner and trotted towards him, leaving a trail of melted wax from his body behind him.

"Hey boy," Sonny said, kneeling down to Waxi's height.

"Sleep well?"

Waxi yipped joyfully as he licked Sonny's face with his tongue made of fire.

Sonny laughed as the fire didn't affect him. He is a candle elf, after all.

Waxi stopped licking and trotted over to Sonny's quiver and barked.

Sonny chuckled as he stood up.

"You know what time it is," Sonny grinned, picking up his bow.

"It's hunting time."
