Barbara shuddered, it was doctor Crane. The psychologist of fear, the one who caused her severe trauma.
Instead of being angry, Barbara was more scared. She didn't expect to see this man again, if ever.
"W-What do you want?" She asked, fear in her voice.
Scarecrow smiled, giving her a grin. "To break you, miss Gordon...Break that will of yours and sense of reason."
Joker was smiling, he always smiled. He glanced over at the psychologist. "Do your stuff, Johnny boy!"
Dr. Crane nodded. "With pleasure, Joker."
The clown turned to face his hench girl, his sick smile never leaving. "C'mon Harley, let's give these two some space."
"Yes, Mr. J." She said.
Harley looked over at the captured heroine and gave an evil smile, one, unlike her others.
Barbara could only imagine what she must be thinking about, what was in store for her.
"See you later...Barbara." Harley told her, walking out of the room.
That's funny, ever since batgirl was found out to be the commissioner's daughter, Barbara Gordon, Harley continued to call her Bratgirl for some odd reason.
This was very unusual.
Scarecrow began talking, each sentence out of his mouth sounded creepy and unsettling. Truly words from the master of fear. "Let's get started...This is going to be interesting."
Before he said another word, Scarecrow walked over to another part of the room, the darkest part of the area, one where light didn't shine through.
She felt herself get the chills, beads of sweat coming off her face.
Just what was this supercriminal grabbing? The last time somebody left to grab something had been Harley, and she grabbed some syringes.
Her thoughts were interrupted with the return of The Scarecrow. Only he had something in his hands.
The device looked like a helmet of some kind, almost like an upside-down bowl. It was dark blue in color and had wires coming out of it, almost crudely put together.
Barbara gawked at the strange device, scared of what Scarecrow had planned for her. "W-What is that? Do you plan to torture me?" She asked, wanting to know the answer.
The ex-psychologist chuckled. "This? No, it's more obedient control...Along the lines of what Jervis Tech had."
She was confused with Scarecrow's words. That name sounded familiar somehow, yet Barbara didn't know why.
"Jervis Tech." She repeated, her voice a whisper and sounding so distant.
"Oh dear," Scarecrow said. "I forgot it's been at least five years when you last fought him. Of course, this sounds so alien to you...That name."
"Wait," Barbara gasped. "Isn't that Riddler's real name?" She asked.
Scarecrow gave a light chuckle. "No, your thinking of Mr. Nigma, miss Gordon. Who else do you think perfect mind control? I'll give you a hint," His next word came in a whisper. "Alice..."
For a few seconds, Barbara didn't know who he was talking about. There weren't many supercriminals she could think of that wanted to control people. Unless he was referring to The Joker.
She sighed. Batman would've known, he has a large database full of everyone he's ever fought, down to the smallest of threats. Even on characters like 'The Ratcatcher'.
"Give up?" Scarecrow asked. "I didn't expect you to know. Just proves how much you care about your enemies."
"Who?" Barbara asked.
He walked over to her, putting the helmet on her head and making sure the wires were attached well. "He was known as The Madhatter."
"No!" She cried, realizing what was in store for her.
However, Barbara couldn't break free of her restraints no matter how hard she tried.
"But that's not all," He said, pulling out a small device.
Barbara knew without looking for too long it was a tape recorder, the same type of tapes used for patients back in Arkham Asylum.
"Your therapy has been very slow, so consider this a more speedy form of recovery." Dr. Crane stated.
"What do you plan to do with me? What will you gain from this?" She asked.
"You will see, miss Gordon...You will see."
Without another word, he began to record the tape.
Scarecrow cleared his throat. "Patient's name is Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl to some. The patient has been displaying some severe problems reentering society, even shying away from her family." He said, pretending to sound like this was a session.
He glanced at her. "So, how are you today? I've heard lately you've caused some trouble."
Once again, she tried to break free of her restraints, but to no avail.
Scarecrow cleared his throat. "I've heard that you experienced some trauma throughout your life, leading you to take up your persona. Care to explain that?"
She couldn't believe what he was saying. This wasn't a session or anything like that. Who does he think he is?
"I said, would you care to explain, Miss Gordon?" Scarecrow asked once again, pretending this was a real session.
"Go to hell!" She yelled.
The supercriminal crossed his arms. "Now miss Gordon, that isn't very nice to say. Apologize to me now." He demanded.
No way was she going to give in to his demands, do what he says. He has no right to treat her like this.
"I said go to hell!" Barbara yelled once more. "This isn't a game!"
Scarecrow sighed. "Patient once again appears to live in a fantasy. She believes to be the superheroine named Batgirl."
"I am," She suddenly remembered everything which happened up to this point. Bruce was dead, and Tim had been brainwashed by the clown prince and princess of crime. "Or was Batgirl."
He looked curious, wanting to learn more. "So you admit that Batgirl is a fantasy, one which you've lived with forever?"
"No of course not! I'm who I am!"
Scarecrow scratched his chin. "I see...The patient is refusing to admit anything. Extreme medication must be given immediately."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
However he didn't say anything, instead, the tape was turned off and stopped recording. Once that was done, the supercriminal went over to her, pulling out a syringe.
"W-What is that?" Barbara asked, afraid of what was going to happen.
"Your medication...Let's see what type of fears," He grabbed her head," you have locked in that mind of yours."
"Y-You won't find a-anything." She said.
However, Scarecrow didn't stop, instead, he injected a needle into her neck. The liquid felt warm and made her body temperature rise. It did some other things that Barbara never had felt before in her life.
Just what did the ex-psychologist put into her body.
"There," Scarecrow said, crossing his arms. "Now, let's see what type of demons you have."
She desperately wanted to say something, but couldn't. Her head was beginning to feel dizzy as the world spun around. For some reason, all she wanted to do was sleep.
"I'll see you on the other side...I'll help open your closed eyes." Scarecrow cackled.
Barbara fought to keep her eyes open, knowing it would be the end if she closed them. Unfortunately, it was useless as the heroine felt her mind drift away, away to a distant dream.
