A week passed by. The hallway is quiet, sunlight streaming through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the floor. Mikha strides down the corridor, her steps echoing in the silence. Her aviators are perched on her head, and she adjusts her leather jacket absentmindedly, glancing around for any familiar faces.
But there's no one.
Colet and Johanna are nowhere to be found, and Gwen is still in her class. Mikha exhales loudly, frustration flickering in her expression. A week of relentless classes and routines has left her restless, and the absence of her usual companions only makes the boredom worse.
As she walks, her gaze lands on a girl sitting alone on a bench near the end of the hallway.
The girl, has her nose buried in a book, her legs crossed casually. Her dark hair falls slightly over her face, and she seems completely absorbed, oblivious to Mikha's presence.
Mikha pauses mid-step, a slow smirk curling on her lips. Her boredom finally has a target.
Mikha walks over, her movements deliberate and confident.
"Now, what's a pretty girl like you doing all alone in a hallway like this?" She said, playfully
The girl looks up, startled by the sudden voice, her eyes narrowing slightly as she takes in Mikha's presence. She seems unsure of how to respond, clutching her book a little tighter.
"Reading... quietly. Is that a problem?" The girl responded, slowly
Mikha chuckles, sliding onto the bench beside the girl, her posture relaxed and oozing confidence.
"Not at all. But quiet doesn't really suit someone like you."
"And what exactly do you know about me?" The girl raises an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued despite herself.
Mikha leans closer, the corner of her mouth twitching into a teasing grin. "Not much yet, but I'd like to change that."
She lets her words hang in the air, watching the girl's reaction. The girl looks slightly flustered but quickly recovers, her eyes narrowing as if she's trying to figure Mikha out.
"And why would you want to? Don't you have better things to do?" The girl didn't buy mikha's words
Mikha pretends to think for a moment, tapping her chin dramatically.
"Not really. I just got some time to kill. Lucky for me, I found you."Maloi's lips twitch as though she's trying not to smile. "Wow. I'm honored to be your boredom project."
Mikha laughs, the sound light and genuine, catching the girl off guard.
"See? You're already more fun than sitting around doing nothing." Mikha said, grinning
She shifts slightly closer, her tone dropping to something softer, more personal. "Besides, I don't think I'm the only one who could use a little distraction."
The girl finally smiles, shaking her head as if amused by Mikha's audacity. "Is this what you do when you're bored? Flirt with strangers?"
"Only the interesting ones." Mikha said, sounding innocent
The girl, rolls her eyes but doesn't move away.
"You're ridiculous." The girl's smiling, her eyes on mikha's
Mikha leaning back, smug "I'll take that as a compliment."
The two share a moment of silence, the tension lingering in the air. Mikha's expression softens ever so slightly as she looks at the girl, who's now flipping the corner of her book nervously.
For Mikha, this was just a game, a way to pass the time. It became a habit. Knowing, this interactions will be like; completely nothing, for her, right after this.
Mikha eventually stands, brushing invisible dust off her jacket. "Well, thanks for entertaining me. Maybe I'll see you around."
The girl watches her go, her brow furrowing slightly. "Yeah... maybe." She responded, her voice weak
The girl watches mikha walks away, her smirk firmly in place.
"She didn't even ask for my name" the girl murmured in disappointment.
as mukha turns the corner, her expression falters for just a second.
This time, the distraction didn't quite fill the void.
---
The sun dips low in the sky, painting the campus parking lot in hues of gold and orange. Mikha saunters across the pavement, hands stuffed in her jacket pockets.
As she approaches the lot, her eyes land on a familiar car parked in the far corner, a pink sports car that's impossible to miss.
"Of course, it's her." Mikha muttering to herself
Her steps slow, curiosity sparking as she sees her sister leaning casually against the car, deep in conversation with a boy.
Mikha's brow furrows. Boys aren't allowed inside the school grounds, let alone chatting openly in the parking lot.
She angles her path slightly to get closer, staying out of sight as she approaches. The boy is tall, with a lean build, dressed in a casual jacket and sneakers. His face is partially obscured, but his animated gestures suggest he's making a point.
Her sister listens intently, nodding occasionally, a small smile playing on her lips.
Mikha stops a few feet away, leaning against a nearby lamppost, her arms crossed.
She calls out, "So, care to explain why there's a boy in our boy-free campus? Or did the rules change while I wasn't paying attention?" her voice sharp and teasing.
Both her sister and the boy turn abruptly, startled by Mikha's sudden appearance.
Her sister, stacey, rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed but not surprised.
"It's not what you think, Mikha." Stacey said with a sigh
Mikha pushes off the lamppost and walks closer, "Oh, it's exactly what I think. Breaking the rules, sneaking boys in. Honestly, I expected better from you." her smirk firmly in place.
The boy looks uneasy, glancing between the sisters. He clears his throat awkwardly.
"I wasn't sneaking in. I was just... dropping something off." The boy responded
Mikha raises an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.
"Uh-huh. And what exactly were you dropping off that's so important you had to risk getting caught?" Mikha ask
Stacey steps in, "He handed me an advance birthday gift, he won't be around starting tomorrow. He's off to canada for business" her tone firm but defensive.
Mikha narrows her eyes, studying her sister's face ."sounds legit."
The tension hangs thick in the air. The boy shifts uncomfortably, clearly regretting coming inside the campus.
"Just drop it, Mikha. Go flirt with someone or whatever it is you do for fun." Stacey said in annoyance
Mikha raises her hands in mock surrender, her smirk returning.
"Fine, fine. I'll leave you two lovebirds alone. But don't worry, I won't tell anyone... for now."
She turns and walks away, her amusement fading into thoughtfulness as she heads toward her own car.
Sitting in the driver's seat, Mikha watches from a distance as her sister and the boy finish their conversation. The boy hands Stacey a small envelope and a paper bag before slipping away, disappearing into the nearby street.
Stacey lingers for a moment, staring at the envelope and paper bag that the boy gave her, before getting into her car.
Mikha frowns, her fingers drumming on the steering wheel.
"Who was that? Does she even have a boyfriend?"
She starts the engine, her curiosity nagging at her as she drives off, the image of the envelope burned into her mind.
