ESCAPING THE DARK ALPHA

The Ball

Aurora's pov

The moon cast a soft, sliver glow and the stars blinked like diamonds in the velvety sky. The wind whispered through the window as I stared out into the night watching as the guests slowly make their way into the pack house. My eyes dart to the large clock on the wall. It's almost seven and Roman still hasn't shown up.

Maybe I should go check up on him. The party will start in a few minutes from now, and I wouldn't want him to be late since he's the host.

As I was about to approach the door, the door swung open and Roman appeared looking handsome as ever in his royal blue suit and his dark hair swept to the side, cradling his face in the most endearing way.
I couldn't take my eyes off him for a moment, he looked breathtakingly handsome.

"Like what you see?" He smirked, an hint of amusement flickered in those icy blue eyes.

I shifted closer to him, hooking my hands around his neck.
"Yes, very much."

He smiled widely, his eyes gleamed with mischief as he wrapped his arms around my waist and leaned in a little closer, his lips were mere inches from my ear.
"You know we can skip the ball and just stay in bed and continue from where we left off this morning."

"God. You're incorrigible." I chuckled, playfully smacking him on the chest.
"You do know I'll do anything just to spend more time with you?"

I nod. "Yes but now we need to go, the party is going to start soon." I said as I tore myself away from him and began walking to the door but before I could Roman gently grabbed my arm stopping me.

"What is it?"

"Did I ever mention how beautiful you look tonight?" He asked, his voice low and flirtatious.

I shook my head, a smile playing on my lips. "Roman, we really need to leave or else we'll be late.

" I don't care, they can start without me."
But Roman we-he cut me off by his
tongue plunging it's way into my mouth, forcing it's way through my lips with a brutal force, licking deep. I abruptly pull away earning a low growl from him.

"Roman, you do remember we have a ball to attend to, right?" My voice firm.
"Yes but-" I placed my finger on his lips, silencing him.
"I promise once the ball is over you can have me all to yourself but right now we have to go, like now."

A small smirk danced on his lips.
"Okay but before we leave there's something I want to give to you." He said pulling out a box from his coat pocket.

"What is this?" I enquired staring at the box curiously.
"Open it." He urged, a smile dancing on his lips.
I obliged and opened the box.
Wow it's beautiful. I said as I run my fingers over the necklace.
It was a golden heart locket necklace.

"Do you like it?" He asked.
"Yes I do."
"I'm glad you like it. Why don't you try it on?"
"Will you help me put it on?" I asked  moving my hair aside.
"Sure."He smiled placing the chain around my neck.

"It looks good on you."He commented.
"It sure does." I replied opening the locket to find a tiny photo of us both in it.
"Thank you, I love it." I said, my voice thick with emotion.
Tears welled up in my eyes and soon streamed down my face.

Roman wiped away my tears before they could fall. "Why are you crying my love?" He asked, concern etched  his tone.
"Because It's the first time someone as ever gifted me something." I answered with a shaky breath.

"Well this isn't going to be the first time I shower you with gifts. I'll give you the world, he said against my mouth. The moon, the stars. Anything you ask, it's yours. I'm yours."

As soon as we entered the room everyone's gaze immediately turned to us.
" Relax I'm right here."Roman whispered, giving my hand a little squeeze, sensing my nervousness.

The ballroom was magnificent, with
Chandeliers hanging from the ceiling like sparkling jewels, casting golden light over the sea of guests. Music floated through the air, and the scents of roses and champagne filled my senses.

As the evening went on, Roman was busy chatting to the other alpha's whilst I stood beside him listening to their conversation regarding pack issues when suddenly my eyes darted to the other end of the room where Cade stood in a corner alone, nursing a glass of champagne in his hand.

"I'll be right back." I say to Roman as I slowly tear myself away from him and stride to the other end of the room.

"What are you doing here all by yourself?" I asked.
Cade turned around and shot me a dazzling smile.
"Aurora, it's a pleasure seeing you and I must add you look stunning as always."

"Thank you and you don't look so bad yourself." I smirked.
Cade smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "Why aren't you with Roman?"

I sighed. "Don't tell him I told you this. I kinda got a little bored hearing him and the other alpha's discuss pack politcs since we got here."

He grinned. "I understand and I promise I won't say a word. Can I get you something to drink?" He offered.

"Uhmm.... A glass of water would do."
He furrowed a brow. "Come on, Aurora one glass of champagne won't get you drunk." He chuckled.

My hand instinctively moved towards my stomach. No one knows I'm pregnant, well accept for Hailey. I still haven't told Roman, I'm waiting for the right time to tell him. Maybe I will tonight.

" Actually I don't like the taste of it, it's makes me want to throw up."
He shrugged. "Okay then, I'll be right back with your water."
"Thanks." I muttered watching him walk towards the bar area.

"Aurora?" A familiar voice called out.
That voice I could never forget, it always sent a cold chill down my spine.
I slowly turn around and meet their hardened gaze.
"Amanda." I whispered.
