The sun rose slowly over the lake, its golden light flooding the horizon and making the calm waters sparkle. Taylor Swift, arms crossed, watched the dawn from the wooden deck of the large house they had rented for the vacation. She had always loved this time of day, the peaceful silence before the world woke up. But this morning, something felt different. Maybe it was the vacation air, the sense of escaping her routine, or just the anticipation of time spent with her family, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something unexpected was about to happen.

She stretched slowly, a sigh of boredom escaping her lips. It had only been a few hours since her family and Travis Kelce's had arrived at the house, but already, the idea of spending two weeks under the same roof with him was starting to twist her stomach. She remembered Travis well. Since their childhood, he had always been her older brother Austin's loud, irreverent best friend. The one who always made too much noise, who showed up uninvited, and who, inevitably, knew exactly how to get on Taylor's nerves. Austin, her brother, had loved him from the first time they met. Taylor, on the other hand, had hated him. And that hatred had never really faded, even after all these years.

"Hey, you." Austin's familiar voice broke her out of her thoughts.

Taylor turned, her smile instantly becoming more genuine when she saw her brother. Austin was one of the few family members who could make her feel calm. They had always been close, despite their differences, and this summer would be no different.

"Hey, Auz," she replied, offering a wider smile. "Did you sleep, or did you just come to say good morning at the crack of dawn?"

Austin laughed, the sound ringing through the cool morning air. "I just came to make sure you weren't already plotting your escape at the first opportunity. You know you don't have to run away this weekend."

"I'm not running away, I... it's just..." She searched for the right words. "It's just that these vacations, with Travis, are going to be... interesting."

Austin rolled his eyes. "Oh, don't tell me you still have that issue with him. He's just a big kid, you know?"

"A nineteen -year-old kid, if you ask me," she replied with a deadpan expression. "It's not just about the noise, it's... him. He's just too much of everything."

Austin shook his head, amused. "I'm sure you'll get used to it. And he won't bite you this time, I promise."

She looked at him, slightly irritated but amused despite herself. "That's not the point of it. It's just... we've never really been on the same wavelength."

Austin placed a hand on her shoulder, giving her a reassuring smile. "You'll see. Maybe it'll be better this time."

Taylor wasn't so sure. She knew that the only reason she had to tolerate two weeks with Travis was because of her family. If she had had a choice, she would have stayed home, working on her projects, far from the chaos and noise that Travis always brought. But fate had decided otherwise. The two families were spending the summer together, just like every year. Only this time, there was that little detail: Travis.
