The man seemed to finally realize his gaze had upset the women. He pretended to bow respectfully, "I am Zhao Ritian, a friend of Young Master Ling."

Ye Wenxin thought she misheard, "Wait, what did you say your name was?"

"Zhao Ritian. Do you know me, miss?"

Zhao Ritian flashed a bright smile at Ye Wenxin, yet for some reason, it seemed punchably smug. Recalling the handshake event and Zhao Ritian’s money-grabbing antics, Ye Wenxin suspected he might also be a protagonist.

Unlike the upright protagonist Gu Aotian, Zhao Ritian appeared nonchalant, seemingly unable to resist feminine charm. Even while talking to Ye Wenxin, his eyes were glued to Liu Yansheng, itching to get closer like a Teddy Bear on full power.

Ye Wenxin secretly dubbed him Zhao Teddy but refrained from revealing her identity as a fellow transmigrator, politely greeting Zhao Teddy instead.

"I'm Ye Wenxin."

"Miss Ye, what a lovely name. To live with a clear conscience is all one can ask for," Zhao Teddy flattered, his demeanor lazy and slick, making him quite unlikable. Ye Wenxin merely nodded, turning to Ling Jue, "Brother Ling, I have something to discuss with you. Let's go inside."

Ling Jue nodded, understanding that their secrets weren't meant for public ears. Out of courtesy, she addressed Zhao Teddy, "Brother Zhao, could you help disperse these ladies and gentlemen?"

With that, they walked into a room, one after the other. The three women tried to follow, but Zhao Teddy had already engaged them, and judging by their displeased expressions, Ye Wenxin believed they would soon give him a beating.

Once inside, Ling Jue locked the door and affixed a soundproofing talisman to prevent anyone from overhearing their conversation.

Ling Jue eagerly reverted to her female form, embracing Ye Wenxin, "Did they trouble you?"

"Of course not. I'm a senior alchemist; they wouldn't dare," Ye Wenxin replied softly, wrapping her arms around Ling Jue's waist, inhaling her subtle herbal scent.

Compared to the chaos outside, Ye Wenxin preferred the gentle type like Ling Jue—calm and composed, like a glass filled to seven-tenths, never overflowing.

Ling Jue's gentleness stirred indescribable feelings in Ye Wenxin.

"Did you find out anything about the Ice Physique?" Relieved by Ye Wenxin's reassurance, Ling Jue pressed on, concerned about the second issue at hand.

The Ice Physique was why she'd risked sending Ye Wenxin.

Despite that, she feared for Ye Wenxin's safety, summoning her subordinates under her identity as the young master of Medicine King Valley. If Ye Wenxin hadn't returned, Ling Jue would have climbed the mountain herself to find her.

Naturally, she didn't share this with Ye Wenxin.

"I learned a bit, but it's hard to implement," Ye Wenxin evaded. The Asura Hall master had suggested a reasonable method, but she couldn't bring herself to engage in dual cultivation.

If she revealed the truth, Ling Jue might offer herself, but the thought was too heavy. Ye Wenxin didn't want Ling Jue, burdened with her family's responsibilities, to make such a sacrifice.
