In the enigmatic expanse known as The Ingress Ether, Earth's creation and denouement converge into an otherworldly twilight. Here, the sky is a tapestry of bruised purple and blue, a skyline forever poised on the brink of dusk and dawn. Colossal trees rise like silent sentinels, their roots spiralling deep into the ground.

"Kometa." A familiar voice called her name. The very voice that reeks of a poison Kometa knew, It may sound sweet. But, it's quite menacing.

Kometa opened her eyes.

"Don't look so perplexed, you know who I am. And you know where you are. You learned about it in the academy." Persephone nurtured and hummed.

"I don't. What is this place?" Kometa asked while observing the strange scenery. White riversides? This isn't earth.

Persephone clicked her tongue in annoyance. "I should've known you aren't this bright.." she whispered under her breath, "ah, i mean, your memories are never quite good." She corrected. "This is The Ingress Ether. A place between the begging of earth's creation and destruction. A place neither dead nor alive, created or destroyed but a suspension in the fabric of space and time. Remember now?" Persephone tilted her head.

"Yes. I remember clearly who you are too." Kometa said bitterly.

"I know not to expect anything good from you. What are we doing here?" Kometa asked, glaring at Persephone who looked unconcerned by this, smiling even.

"Don't be so cold, Kometa. Can't you push past altercations behind..?" Persephone chirped.

"Answer the question." Kometa demanded.

"Are you feeling drowsy, Kometa?" Just as she said that a sharp ache rushed to Kometa's stomach.

"What..?" Kometa panicked in a hushed voice.

Persephone walked up to the crouched girl, towering over here with crossed arms.

Kometa brought a shaky hand to her forehead, feeling clammy, her skin cold against her own touch. Her muscles pulsed with a deep, aching soreness, and each breath felt ragged. The pain was strange, diffuse, wrapping around her like an unstable storm that made even the act of thinking feel like wading through water. Her vision blurred and a metallic taste traveled to her mouth, the exhaustion deepened, her mind slipping further from clarity.

"Your question is unimportant. This is why I'm making you return to the present day. Then, that will save me from rambling about your pointless question."

Persephone kneeled down to Kometa. "Sleep well."

Kometa awoke, opening her eyes to the soft light that caressed her slightly. She felt out of focus.

With due difficulty, she pushed herself up, pressing her hands into the ground for support. Every part of her body rebelled at the simple task and she hissed as she felt a pain in her joints that started with her shoulders and down her back. Breathing in almost to fullness, she found her breath uncooperative, it was harsh and unrefined and added to the squirmy sensation of temporal displacement she experienced.

She was parched and as if the oppressive, sickening silence had an effect on her pulse. She observed the shaggy hands dirty with soil and felt an inexplicable discomfort, as if she had forgotten something very significant but could not put a finger on it. Pulling in her arms across her chest, she turned about in hope of seeing something comforting and recognisable, creeping tension enveloped her as she tried to make sense of the events that conspired to leave her here, all by herself.

Kometa shut her eyes and felt the memories return.

When a figure approached, Kometa looked up and for an instant the world appeared to come to a halt. The girl was beautiful, her demeanor demanding but calm as if she had experience in turning heads while doing the least amount of work.

Her dress appeared to be spun from the light of the stars, glistening with every move. It clung to her form, rippling in graceful folds that were a wash of white and pink. The sleeves were thin and translucent, falling lightly down her arms, catching even the gentlest of winds in such a way as to give her an ethereal feel.

She neared them and smiled, a hint of mischief knowing on her lips.

The girl tilted her head, a playful smile curling at the corners of her lips, though her eyes carried something deeper, maybe pity. She folded her arms.

"Poor girl," she said, her tone lilting and almost sing-song, each syllable drawn out just enough to sound both sympathetic and amused. "It seems like Persephone really dislikes you." Kometa was unsure if her words sooth or sting.

"How do you know who that is?" Kometa asked, honestly. She was getting tired of dealing with random people talking to her like normal.
