The table is filled with all kinds of food, most Thana has never seen in her life. She is the last to enter the wagon, following her mentors and Harl. Her mouth is agape, not used to the luxury of so many foods standing together. For some reason, their escort Aura is already situated at the table with a glass of champagne. It all seems so mundane, yet Thana's heart aches. She was supposed to eat with her family, enjoy the soup and laughter as the day was finally over. The warm candles that would make them huddle together in the small kitchen telling tales of old, singing rhymes and drink deep into the night. Never regretting the consequences, the next morning when they rise with the sun. For the first time since her oldest brother was of reapable age, the Jardin family would have a teary ride back home with no laughter. The candle would be cold rather than warm, they would grieve together, not celebrate. And her she is, at a table that could feed her family and neighbours.

"Come, let us discuss," Brair pulls back a chair for the frozen girl to sit on. "I won't bite."

A thin smile appears on Thana's face as she reluctantly takes the seat besides her mentor. The calming nature of the blonde feeling motherly, "thank you," she mutters, looking carefully at the other three present.

"The food is absolutely delicious this year," Aura chimes at the four from 9, "even better than last year."

Harl looks at his district partner, his eyes warm as she meets his eyes. A silent understanding between the two. Normalcy outside of just them was gone, Aura would never understand their simple lives and urge to try sane during the games. Their mentors could, but their lives are burdened with being victors.

"If you say so," Rohan tries to ease the tension, seeing the contact between the tributes, making him smile sadly at the duo, "maybe we got a new chef?"

"You two should eat something," the blonde woman says, "the pasta with vegetables is my favourite." She smiles softly at the two teenagers.

Reluctantly, Thana reaches for the orange soup on the table. "Pumpkin soup, such a good choice," Aura enthusiastically claps in her hands, "and the filled chicken as well." She compliments their choices of dishes.

The orange soup doesn't smell like her mother's orange soup she wanted to eat does. A small tear streaming down her cheek as she starts to eat it. The formality and artificial lights alienating her from how she is used to eat. She feels a kick to her feet, causing her to look up. She smiles a little at the strange face the boy before her has for a split second before he returns to eating as if he never caused her attention to shift away from her thoughts.
