With flat ears, she slowly walked around to adjust to the height difference and gathered her things, stowing them in her dimension box; before she ventured back upstairs. A faint gray light floated into her field of vision and hovered. A faint voice entered her mind.

“Hello, Young Grand Sage. I sensed your awakening and figured I could offer you my services and answer any questions you might have.”

“Okay, what are you… or who are you to be more precise?”

“Zaldori, a greater spirit of darkness who has served some of the previous sages who aligned with darkness. Form a pact with me and I will assist you.”

“I accept, it would seem the light has no love for me. I have stumbled onto something big… Anything you think I ought to know off the bat?”

The spirit chuckled and its voice became clearer, as it floated up and spoke clearly, “You are at the grand sage’s floating sanctuary, only one grand sage is born every few centuries - but it is a subclass that comes with an inheritance. First of all this flying fortress and the world magic created by the ancient grand sages before you. There’s really a lot to tell you, so I could start with a quick grand scheme of topics and you can tell me what interests you, Mistress.”

“That sounds like a great place to start. Are there clothes?”

“Aha, forced evolution? How old were you… eight? You do need new clothes. Follow me, Mistress.”

The spirit floated towards a large wooden door and through it, before the young woman followed behind him and opened the door. Behind it was an expanse she was not expecting, a field of flowers of every color surrounded by a thick stone wall with several buildings, including a few houses and workshops along a long road that followed the wall. On the far side, a sturdy looking structure was built into the wall itself; after taking it all in, she addressed her new spirit friend.

“Zaldori, is there any magic equipment here? Can I find what I need for battle here?”

“Grand Sages of the past have customized several pieces of equipment and left them in the armory for future Grand Sages. Some of it might be missing, but we can head straight to the armory if that’s your wish. We just left the library, where you can find books on just about everything and the grand sage’s pride achievement world magic artifact room. That’s how you arrived here, by activating a magic circle connected to the world magic’s teleportation network.”

The spirit guided her across the field past a large fountain and several fruit trees scattered around, but they did not stop until they reached the far end and entered the large structure built into the far wall. The stone stairs led to wooden double doors; inside were racks of equipment far as she could see. The equipment all looked extravagant, but she quickly asked.

“Can you take me to the best heavy armor that would suit me in this place?”

“I suggest the living armor that the eighth Grand Sage forged for herself and her elven magic knights. It’s forged from a living mithril alloy and classified as heavy armor, but it is lighter than most of the other options and has no enchantments aligned with the light attribute. It’s said to grow in strength with its wearer.”

The spirit quickly led her through the vast room past several racks and chests filled with weapons, clothing, and gear. The section they arrived at looked extremely picked over, only four of the thirty armor racks had sets resting there. She opened the chest situated near the back of the section and found most everything she could need; everything was very enchanted, including socks and undergarments.

She wasted no time putting on socks, but smelt and appraised the underwear; before she decided that with this level of enchantment it was likely safe to wear. She even found a specialized wrap to hold up her newfound chest, and a set of padded clothing that went over every part of her body from the neck down; however, the garment was skin tight, but somehow the perfect temperature inside.
