After our investigation ended, I went back to my room. "I've got a bit of time before night..." I thought out loud, and before I knew it I was back in the school hallways, wandering. Unsurprisingly, not a lot of people were out and about at the time. I guess they still just...didn't really trust each other. I was broken out of my thoughts by a tap on my shoulder, and turned around to see Pin, a small smile on her face.
"How're you holding up?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Okay, I guess..." I answered, unsure. She frowned, before perking back up again.
"Maybe you could help me bake something! I mean, it always makes me feel better."
I blushed. Pin wanted to hang out with me? "O-Oh, I dunno..." I chuckled, nervous, "I mean, I've never really baked before."
"Tell ya what. What's your favorite dessert?" She asked.
"That's easy. Strawberry shortcake."
"Then I'll teach you how to make some of that!" Before I knew it, she had grabbed my hand and dragged me into the kitchen.
I spent some baking with Pin.

As we were waiting for the cake to finish baking, I randomly asked, "So, how'd you get into baking?"
"Oh, I just sorta picked it up when I was a kid." She shrugged, "My mom's kinda a control freak, and I just wanted something to do other than study and do stupid debate club." She grunted at the end of her sentence, clearly annoyed.
"We could change the subject, if you want." I offered. She shook her head.
"It's alright. I can talk about it." She insisted, and took a deep breath. Finally, she spoke again, "In short terms, my mom is a total control freak. She needs perfect grades, first place metals, blue ribbons, and just all in all a perfect, smart daughter. It's just...tiring, y'know?"
I frowned, "...I'm sorry, Pin. That sounds..."
"I know. It's okay."
We stood in an awkward silence for a while, before she suddenly spoke up, "...Hey, Leafy?"
"What's up?" I smiled at her.
She hesitated for a while, before asking what I had, frankly, least expected from her. "Do you believe in love—...maybe not at first sight, but quick?"
I nodded, blushing slightly. "Yeah, but...why do you ask?" Her eyes widened slightly, and she turned away from me.
"Because I think that's what's happening with me..."
That peaked my interest. Pin was in love? With who? I-I mean, not that it matters to me or anything...right?
"With who?" I managed to ask. When her face reddened, I chuckled, "You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to."
"I..." She started to say something, but stopped. She shook her head. Now I was torn. Tell her, or don't...? Unconsciously, I slowly reached for her hand. Maybe...Maybe I could just—
Ding!
I quickly pulled my hand back as the oven dinged. "Oh!" Pin grinned, her excitement taking over her awkwardness, "Cake's done!" She grabbed a mitten and opened the over. While she took the dessert out, I started to think. What was Pin talking about when she mentioned quick love?...Eh, probably nothing.
We continued to chat as the cake cooled. I helped her ice it, and before long, it was ready to eat. As soon as I took my first bite, I could understand why Pin's talent was what it was. "This is amazing, Pin!" I complimented her.
Her eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Yeah! I get where your talent's from, now." I stood up and pulled a chair up next to mine, motioning for her to sit and try a bite. She blushed.
"O-Oh, I dunno...I mean, I made it for you, and—"
"Yeah, shut up." I giggled and dragged her over. She reluctantly sat down and tried a bit of the cake. Instantly, she brightened again.
"This actually is pretty good!" She grinned.
"Why're you surprised?"
"I don't usually eat my own sweets. I only ever really baked to make other people happy." She explained. That was just one more thing to like about her, I suppose...
"Girl, show yourself some love! You put all the effort into making your stuff this delicious, you can treat yourself to some!"
She giggled, looking away. "I guess..." I smiled, and patted her on the shoulder. "Hey..." She looked like she wanted to say something, but she stopped. I didn't question her on it. I didn't want to pressure her more than she already, clearly was. Once we finished eating, we parted ways, and I found myself full of new, warm feelings.
Pin and I grew a lot closer today!
