I watch as Messenger brings in drinks with other worker.
"Dad, is it possible that we can send someone to spy for us? We could have one of our men pose as a worker and he can collect intelligence for us." Y/N suggests. Her beautiful E/C eyes look her father up and down waiting for an answer. Of course we had the same idea, wise minds think alike.
I look up when I see Christopher walk into my office. He runs his hand through his short blonde hair as he shuts the door behind him. He stands next to me and watches the camera with me.
"I'm not sure, honey." F/N brushes the girl off before beginning to talk to his associates again, saying his own ideas. She sighs and glances down at her lap with an defeated look on her face. Her father always has her attend things like this but he never takes her seriously, he's wasting her knowledge and talent. She thanks the Messenger with a kind smile as he hands her a drink making my heart flutter a little. She has a gorgeous smile, a smile that could dazzle anyone.
"Don't even think about it." I hear Christopher mutter beside me.
"Excuse me?"
"I said 'Don't even think about it'. What is with you Sullivans and falling in love with L/N women."
"I'm not in love with her." I snap at him.
"Good, because we all know what happened when your grandfather and father tried to pursue the L/N women they loved."
The rivalry between our families started when my my grandpa fell in love with Y/N's great aunt. My grandfather and her grandfather used to be extremely close but her grandfather forbade my grandfather from dating his sister. That's what led my grandfather to try and kill her grandfather, so he could be with the girl he loved. It clearly didn't work and they became enemies, and her aunt naturally hated my grandfather after he tried to kill her brother. My grandpa married my grandma simply so he could have children, he never loved her but he was kind and respectful to her.
My father and mother had a similar relationship like that, except my father wasn't kind or respectful to her. My father had fallen in love with F/N's sister but had to marry my mother because he could never be with the women he truly loved. There's just something about the women in that family that makes mine go crazy.
Y/N is truly.... Brilliant, but I can't long for her like my ancestors did her ancestors.
I roll my eyes at Christopher before looking back at the screen. The woman sips her drink and listens to the conversation trying to stay engaged in it but most of the time she gets talked over.
"I think we should-" she's quickly cut off my her father.
"We need to just focus on keeping an eye out for now, there's not much we can do ye-" she cuts him off right back.
"Dad, I was talking."
"What you were gonna say can wait a minute."
"What? Dad, let me talk. I have good ideas too, you know? What was the point of having here if you aren't gonna let me speak?" You can see the frustration rising in her eyes.
"You're here so you have experience for when you take over."
"Exactly!"
"Don't give that attitude." The hands he has clasps together on the desk tighten turning his knuckles white, as do her's.
"I'm not trying to give you attitude, dad. I'm just trying to make you see this from my po-"
"Are you sure? You check your tone then because you were giving me attitude."
"Stop interrupting me!"
"I'm not trying to interrupt you."
"But you just did!"
"Exactly." Her eyes harden when he uses her words against her. It's beautiful. I'm not used to seeing a woman angry but it's beautiful. My mother, despite being miserable, put on a smile most of the time so I never saw her angry. My grandmother was a very happy woman, and I never saw her angry. All of the other women I've met had always put on smiles because they're trying to make a good impression on me or my family. This girl I'm watching seems the be the only women I've seen angry.
She hops off her father desk ready leave.
"Where are you going?"
"To my room. I refuse to be mocked like that in front of the men who will be my associates in the future."
"I wasn't mocking you, I was simply showing you how you were talking to me."
"No, you weren't showing me you were using them against me!"
"Don't talk to me like that. I am the parent, you are child meaning you don't speak to me that way!" He raises his voice at her.
"I'm twenty, I'm not a child!" She raises her voice right back at him.
"Well you're acting like one."
"Women, am I right?" I hear someone mutter. The Messenger turns slightly allowing me to see the man who spoke. Y/N's head snaps towards him, her eyes glistening with rage.
"What did you just say?"
"Nothing, ma'am." The man who asked the Messenger to bring the drinks responds. She steps closer to the sitting man and leans down so they're at eye level.
"Don't lie to me. If you have something to say then speak up so I can hear it instead mumbling it." Her eyes bore into his. "Especially, when it's some stupid shit like 'women, am I right?'. What does any of this have to do with me being a woman?"
The man struggles to anything without stuttering. "I-I'm sorry, m-ma'am."
She grabs him by the collar of my shirt and pulls him closer. "You better fucking be, because the next time I hear you say something like that I'll your God damn balls off and make you eat them. Understand?"
"Y-Yes." He whispers.
"How many time do I have to tell you to speak up?" She shouts. "Do you understand?"
"Yes! I understand!" He says louder. She roughly shoves him then releases his shirt and stands up fully again. When she turns around her father stands there glaring down at her.
"What has gotten into you?" He asks in a low tone.
"I am my father's daughter, and I do not take kindly to disrespect." She state before walking out, the Messenger and the other worker follow behind her. I have to admit, she's absolutely magnificent. F/N is stupid for not seeing her potential, he should listen to her more.
I turn to Christopher. "When the invasion happens I want you to come back with her. She could be very useful to us."
"How so? If you don't mind me asking sir."
"I just have a feeling." His eyes look me up and down before nodding his head.
