The revelation of her true heritage hung over Ryuvyna like a storm cloud. The Park mansion, which once felt like a fortress, now seemed suffocating. Her brother's secret had shattered the foundations of her identity, leaving her adrift in a sea of questions.
Junghyun Jeon. Her biological brother. A name she had only associated with danger and bloodshed. It was part of her own story, and she had no idea what it meant for her future.
Jayden had been unusually quiet since their confrontation. He avoided her questions, claiming it was better for her not to know more. But Ryuvyna wasn't a child anymore and was determined to uncover the truth.
That evening, she slipped into the library. It was the only place in the mansion where she felt some peace. She pulled out a map of the city from one of the shelves. her mind racing.
If Junghyun Jeon had been her father, there had to be someone in the Jeon family who knew more. Someone who could fill in the gaps Jayden refused to explain.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock. She looked up to see Victor standing in the doorway.
"You've been avoiding everyone," he said, stepping inside.
"Can you blame me?" she replied, folding the map and shoving it into her bag.
Victor tilted his head, his piercing gaze studying her. "What are you planning, Ryuvyna?"
She hesitated, but the weight of her secret was too much to bear alone. "I need answers. Answers Jayden won't give me."
His expression darkened. "Answers about Junghyun Jeon?"
Ryuvyna froze. "You knew?"
"I knew enough," he admitted. "Jayden didn't want you to find out because it puts a target on your back. If the Jeon realize who you are, they won't see you as your family. They'll see you as leverage."
"That's exactly why I need to know more," she said firmly. "I can't keep hiding in this mansion, pretending none of this affects me."
Victor sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You're walking into dangerous territory, Ryuvyna. The Junghyun aren't like us. They don't have rules. If you confront them, they'll use you to hurt Jayden."
"I'm not doing this for Jayden," she snapped. "I'm doing this for me. I deserve to know the truth about who I am."
For a moment, Victor said nothing. Then, to her surprise, he nodded. "If you're set on this, you're not going alone. I'll take you to someone who might help."
Ryuvyna blinked, startled. "You will?"
"I think you're making a mistake," he said, his tone serious. "But I'd rather be there to protect you than let you run off on your own."
The next night, Victor led Ryuvyna to a quiet, dimly lit bar on the outskirts of Seoul city. It was the kind of place where deals were made in hushed tones, and everyone kept one eye on the door.
They entered through a back entrance, Victor guiding her to a private booth. A man was already waiting for them, a wiry figure with sharp features and a calculating gaze.
"Ryuvyna," Victor said, his voice low. "This is Brian. He's an informant. He works for himself, so he's not tied to any family."
Brian raised his eyebrow as he studied her. "The Park Princess. You've got a lot of nerve showing up here."
Ryuvyna ignored his jab, leaning forward. "I need information about Junghyun Jeon."
Brian smirked. "Straight to the point. I like that. But information like that doesn't come cheap."
Before Ryuvyna could respond Victor slid a thick envelope across the table. "This should cover it. Now talk."
Brian opened the envelope, flipping through the bills before the nodding. "Junghyun was one of the sharpest men in the Jeon family. Ambitious, ruthless, and loyal until he wasn't. When he fell in love with your mother, he started keeping secrets from his own family. The Jeon saw it as a betrayal."
"What happened to him?" Ryuvyna asked, her voice steady despite the storm raging inside her.
Brian's smirk faded. "He disappeared. Some say the Jeon killed him for his betrayal. Others think he went into hiding to protect your mother and you."
Ryuvyna's heart raced. Could he still be alive?
"Why would the Jeon care about me now?" she pressed
Brian leaned back, a glint of amusement in his eyes. "Because if Junghyun left anything behind a legacy, money, power. It's tied to you. The Jeon would kill to claim it, and the Parks would kill to protect it. You, my dear, are sitting on a powder keg."
Ryuvyna exchanged a glance with Victor, her resolve hardening. If her life was going to be caught between these two families, she needed to uncover every secret they were hiding, starting with Junghyun's fate.
She stood, her gaze fierce. "Then it's time to light the fuse."
To be continued...
