Yellow

My dad has been begging me for three months to come home for the family reunion. I'm not against it nor have bad blood with my relatives; they are lovely and fun to be with. I would love to come for the reunion my deadline won't let me. My publisher is telling me to hurry up for my next book if I don't, they'll be sure that people won't give a fuck about my work anymore, my first book was a hit that's why they want me to publish a book after two months. I can definitely do that. I have loved writing since I was a kid but the pressure they are putting on me can't make me focus on my work. The reunion will be held this weekend. I'm sad that I won't be there. I miss everyone, especially my Nana.

Speaking of Nana, my phone lit up with her incoming facetime call.

"Hello Nana" I answer

"There's my Yellow, how are you doing little girl?" She asks

"I'm doing great Nana, just struggling a little bit about my next book but I'm really doing great"

"Oh, my poor little girl, I heard from you dad they were demanding you too much" she coo for her I'm still the little girl running in their backyard, the little girl chasing the chickens in the farm, the little girl who throws tantrums when her parents won't let her buy a book. A little girl they spoil with books. I am always her little girl forever, she says.

I chuckled "Dad is really nosy I wonder where he got that Nana" I joked

"Are you telling your Nana is nosy?"

"I mean Nana we all know you are dad got it from you even Paps says that"

She laughs on the other side "You are right little girl, anyways a little weekend vacation might help you to clear your mind Yellow you know I worry about you so much when I heard that from your father. You should write at your own pace; we all know that you are not after the fame little girl you write because it is your calling that's what you love to do, I see how you put your heart and soul in every word you put in it. I might be old but I bought a copy of your book even though you told us not to but when I read Yellow, I see your hard work, the time you devoted to it and little girl, the scenes god it brought me back in my adult years. Take this reunion as a little vacation to breathe, little girl."

I held my tears from falling, hearing this from Nana means a lot to me. "Thank you, Nana, I will think about it."

She smiles sweetly "If your mom is the here she will definitely scold you remember what she always tells you do not rush things take your time on writing if you feel pressured and suffocated take a breather, because —"

"Because rushing things will have ugly outcome, get it Nana" I continued. Mom died six years ago due to a heart attack. She always reminds me to take a breath when I will suffocate and that rushing what you are doing will have an ugly outcome. I wish she's still here so I could hear her scold me.

"I know you do Yellow, So I'll be expecting you bring your boyfriend I'm dying to meet him Bettina says he's a good guy"

"Bettina?" I'm confused, they never met. I showed some old photos of our family but I never introduced him to my family properly.

"Yes, little girl Bettina says she's working with him, he's a good boss" Nana said

I was taken aback Shawn never mentioned to me that he is working with Bettina, maybe it's a small world after all, Shawn works on an entertainment company as the head of marketing and Bettina has a degree in marketing so it makes sense.
