Yellow
It's been a month since it happened, is it weird if I did not feel sad or heartbroken because my ex cheated on me that our relationship ended? Never shed a tear about it. I somehow feel relieved that it ended, I also feel horrible about it like we've been together for four years, lived together for two years and I haven't shed a tear. At the same time the sadness and the heartbreak I felt was for my cousin. I felt heartbroken and sad because I longed for her years; I thought it was just puberty why we drifted apart that she felt that way... All these years I hoped that we could be close again, but this happened. I lose that hope.
I'm staying in a hotel for a month . My best friend A.L offered me to stay with her, but I just wanted to be alone. My publisher kept on calling me asking about the progress every time they called, I lie I always told them I'm halfway done. But in reality, I can't even start, I can't focus, I can't write.
Tomorrow I'll move to a new place. I found a two-story house in the south. It's not big, it's fully furnished, and I will have my own patio, the location is great too so I get it. I can't stay in hotel forever I'll go broke it's expensive as fuck. I was packing my stuff when my phone notified a message from A.L
A.L: You know what, my brother has a game today. It's not far from your hotel.
A.L and I have been friends since we're college. She's my roommate. His brother Luke is a professional basketball player, playing for the Hotshots. He's 6-7 years older than us, he's also good looking if I'm being honest.
Me: I'm packing my stuff, moving to the house I rent tomorrow.
I replied, it didn't take too long for her reply.
A.L: Come on Yellow, live a little outside that room. I'll help you after the game. I promise I'll even bring Luke with me and help you move to your new house.
Me: A.L you know I don't know anything about basketball.
Not a lie, I'm not a fan of sport, any sports to be exact.
A.L: You don't have to, you're not the one playing in the court though, we will just watch Yellow.
Me: What if I'll just get bored?
A.L: You won't, I assure you.
Me: Guess I don't have a choice then
A.L: Yes! Finally, I'll fetch you at six
Me: No need, I'll just meet you there at the entrance.
A.L: Ok then! See you in a bit Yeye!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since it's my first time watching an actual basketball game, I don't know what to wear. I just pulled my mom jeans and a dark blue button-down top that is oversized tucked the other side of it and left the other as is and paired my outfit with white snickers on. I look at myself in the mirror. It doesn't look bad, it's just a fine mix of formal and casual.
I left the hotel at exactly six p.m. even though the game starts at seven. I see A.L at the entrance. She's wearing her brother's jersey and shorts paired with a white snicker. She waves her hand. She hugged me tight. "Finally I convinced you to come with me, let's get inside before the game starts."
I nod "Sure let's go" she clung to my arms like we always do when we were walking in the university before.
"So how are you and Wade?" I ask while walking inside the venue. Wade has been her boyfriend for six years now. He's also a professional basketball player but from the rival team.
"Wade? He's on the out-of-town game for tomorrow,"
"You're not going to his game?"
She shakes her head "I want to surprise him actually, but he told me not to, so I won't instead I will spend more time with you tomorrow." She's winked I know A.L so much. I tug her to me. I know she never misses Wade's game even since our university years. She acts cool but she's sad about it.
"Let's not talk about me, let's talk about you, how are you?"
We're looking for someone to assist us and point us through the V.I.P seats near the player's bench. We found our seats; Luke waved his hand to us. A.L did too. He's in the middle of shooting or conditioning whatever they call it but he is in the court throwing the ball in the ring the same time his teammates do. But he ran towards us.
He hugged his sister and looked at me with a genuine smile, "It's a pleasure to see you here Yellow, how are you?"
I turned him a smile I bet he already heard what happened "I'm doing great Luke"
"Glad to hear that, hope you enjoy the game" he says, "I really hope so...
"COLLINS GET BACK HERE NOW!" one of his teammate's shouts, he looked at us once again "I need to go, I'll meet you after the game" he says before going back to his teammate.
A.L giggles beside me I looked at her "What?" I ask
"You know you and my brother look good together. And even he won't admit it to me I know Luke has a crush on you" she says like it was nothing.
I watch Luke shooting the ball facing his back to us. Luke is handsome, he is tall, athletic, gentleman as he is, he's all girls dream man, but the idea being together? I don't think so... and him having a crush on me? I don't believe that I'm nothing to him. He is being casual to me since I'm his sister's best friend. I mean I just got out of a relationship.
I shook my head "Nope not going there, nope" I told A.L
"I'm just saying I can set you both up when you are ready you know"
"Forget it Aurelia Leigh"
She shrugs, having a wide wicked grin on her face "the offer is just on the table" she says.
She never gave up once she got an idea. The game started; I don't know but I enjoyed it. The Hotshots won by 33 points. But one player catches my attention throughout the game. He shoots from the rainbow line they called it, perfectly and did not miss even once. And he is handsome too even sweat was soaking all over him.
Jersey Number 22.
