Warrick

It's been two weeks since Yellow moved into the house right next to us. But I haven't seen her step out of her house. I wasn't home all the time. We have two to three games in a week but when I am home, I never see her, not that I want to see her. Just curious? Or I'm worried. The last time I saw her go out was the day we gave her the cookies an hour after we gave her the cookies she left the house. It's not like I'm stalking her, it's just what I observe.

Last night we just finished our elimination round with 10-1 and we will move to the quarter finals now we are just waiting. I'm home today, tomorrow we will have practice and I just want to spend this day with Rory and to rest, it's what I'm doing now. Rory and I were on the couch watching Shark Tales. She let me pick what we are going to watch. I originally picked Finding Nemo, but she says we already watched it. The second movie I picked was Monster House. She almost cried when I said that it wasn't that scary, just little jump scares. In the end we both came to a decision to watch the Shark Tales.

Rory's tiny head turned to me "Daddy, do you think Miss Yellow can play with me?"

I look at her, not really sure what to tell her. "I don't know sunshine; I haven't seen her, maybe she's not at her house."

Her head tilts "her car is park outside"

I shrug, "Maybe she is busy, I'll ask her when I see her."

She yawns looking sleepy. I scoop her and turn off the T.V. "Time for nap sunshine" I lay her down in my bed, whenever I'm home resting, no game, no practice. We always take a nap in my room.

I woke up from a short nap while my daughter was still sleeping. I quietly left the room and went to the kitchen. I made her an afternoon snack when she woke up. And I made myself a coffee. Since Rory is still sleeping, I grabbed my laptop and went to the backyard. It wasn't cloudy, it wasn't so sunny as well, just a good balance of weather. And I also found Yellow in her own backyard with her laptop.

"Well hello there neighbor!" I greeted her and placed my coffee down my little table.

She makes a little wave with her hand "Hi!" she simply replied

I looked at her, her hair up in a messy bun, just wearing an oversize white shirt and a denim short wearing her glasses that I saw for the first time. And she still looks beautiful, especially with her glasses.

"Working?" I asked

She nods and sighs "I am, but nothing comes to my mind right now."

"Am I distracting you?"

She shakes her head "No you are not. I have been like this for a month now" I wonder what she does for a living she doesn't give off an office woman vibe.

"So, what do you do? If you don't mind me asking?" I can't really help to ask.

She met my eyes and looked away immediately "I - uhm... I wrote novel books"

She's an author, Wow.

Hold on wait, I remember the book I read last summer, the book 'It's Never Really Over' . The author's pen name was Yolane Willow don't tell me she is the one who wrote it.

"Wait, are you Yolane Willow the one who wrote It's Never Really Over?" I ask, she looked at me in shock like she can't really believe it and so do I.

"Yes, it's me" she shyly says

Why did it just now register to me not when she told her full name two weeks ago. And now it also explains why she's not stepping out of her house. It explains it all.

"Wow, I love your book you know" I told her

Her face turned red, "You don't have to say it in my account. But you read my book?"

Well, I do read romance books most of the team does too. The guys who made me read books like that.

I nod "I am, most of the guys from the team. Luke was the one who made us read your book actually. And love your book and truly do not say on your behalf as you should know." I confessed.

Her mouth parted for a moment. "Seriously? I did not expect this. Wow" Look so overwhelmed. "Th-thank you Warrick, oh my god"

I glance again at her "So you're working on the second book?" I ask

"Yeah but, nothing comes in my mind the publisher is calling every single fucking day asking about the progress." Now she looks devastated. I imagine the pressure on it, calling every day. I would feel the same thing if I'm in the same position.

"I don't like when people tell me to rush too, you know. Like in the court each team just have twenty-four or fourteen seconds every possession sometimes when the ball landed on my hands people from the crowd shouts 'hurry shoot that ball' but basketball is not always shooting the fucking ball when it's on your hands. You have to be smart about it, because if I do what the crowd wants me to do, especially if there is a person guarding my move either I will get a foul or he will, so I usually look for an open teammate who is more capable of shooting the ball on the ring. Also, if I shoot that ball and did not look for an open teammate our coach will nag me endlessly telling me I'm rushing that I'm not playing with the team"

I see her bops her head and smile, not a forced one guess she gets what I am saying. "I get you, just not the basketball terms not really following sports-" she says and she's holding her finger up "but! When I watched your games last time you never missed a shot on what do you call that like again is it rainbow or something yeah that you are impressive. Yes, I get you thank you for that. It's just the basketball terms that make me dizzy" she continued and laughed.

Fuck I love the sound of her laugh it's beautiful. It's like I want to make her laugh all the fucking time, even I'll be look silly or dumb just to hear her laugh again. And this is fucking bad I can feel my dick hardens. Fuck.

I sipped from my coffee acting normal "So not a basketball fan I see, what are then" I tried to change the topic so she might feel uncomfortable if I pushed that conversation.

"None to be honest, it's just A.L trying every single time to bring me in every game it's either your team's game or her boyfriend's. As you can see, I'm a nerd, reading is my own sports" she says. I laugh because of the last line she says.

"Well, we have to fix that, I will convert you to be a basketball fan, my fan to be specific" what the hell am I doing right now, flirting with her seriously.

She smirks and tilts her head "And how will you do that?" her using lower-pitched voice definitely flirting back

I cockily smirked and did not expect her to flirt back "Excited to know? Just wait and see Yellow." I don't even have any idea why I said that.

She closes her laptop and rises from her seat before facing me again and shrugs "Well in that case I'm going back to my work while waiting for your move I guess, See you around War." She said and winked. Shit this girl is something I know I shouldn't do, especially because I know Luke likes her but man. I'm telling you I can't.

I went back inside as well just in time Rory was awake and looking for a snack so I gave her the one I prepared for her.
