Warrick
I end up going to the bar with them. The bar is just near the arena, it's just the bar is packed. Tonight I had a hard time finding a parking spot. I ended up coming back to the arena and left my car there and walked there since it's just fifteen minutes walk. I travel my eyes around to see where my teammates see them in the corner booth. I passed the ocean of people going through my teammates, some people congratulated me for winning tonight's game. I just gave them a polite nod.
"What took you so long we were together at the parking lot before going here." Jacob asks. When I got in the booth.
Instead of answering his question. My eyes landed at Yellow. She was sitting beside A.L and the other seat was the only available. I strode towards her and sat down in an unoccupied chair beside her. Our skin brushed, I felt her stiffened, and freezing. She must be cold tonight because the wind is cold since winter is coming.
"The parking lot is full so I went back and left my car there and walked here." I told them
"You should call one of us." Luke says he was sitting beside his sister.
"It's fine, It was a good walk anyway." I say. I grabbed the bottle of beer and took a sip. While everyone is on their own conversations Yellow beside me is quite taking a sip on her drink every second.
"Are you okay?" I ask, I'm not looking at her
I saw her glanced at me from my peripheral vision "Me? I am." she whispers, I don't know why she is whispering the bar so loud that no one can hear her. I turned my face to her. "You look not, do I make you uncomfortable?"
She looked at me like she's trying to analyze me then she shook her head and lifted the glass to her lips. "No, you don't War, it's just cold." She says, I knew she's cold, she's wearing a thin layer of clothes. She's beautiful tonight but for fuck sake I can feel her freezing.
I was about to give her the hoodie I was wearing. I wore it since I had to walk from here because the wind is cold outside. But she stopped me. "No, don't I'm fine, truly." She refuses immediately. I study her, she says she's fine by the cold but clearly not. I don't want to make her uncomfortable so I did not insist on giving my hoodie to her. A.L and her chat about something and she seems vibing with the team. I just mind my own damn business.
Hours later it was getting late and everyone started to leave. A.L is drunk Luke and Dalton is carrying her in both arms. Luke fixes his gaze to Yellow "Oh shit, did A.L fetch you right?"
Yellow nods "It's fine, I can call an uber" she reassures, not in hell I'll let her get an uber at this time. So, I interrupt "Or we can ride home together, I'm your neighbor remember?" I'm very much sober to drive.
Luke's mouth twitched up "Right, you don't need an uber Yellow, Warrick can bring you home safe in one piece." He agrees.
Yellow turns her face to me "I- I'm good really I can call an uber" she's so stubborn.
Luke shakes his head "You're stubborn Yellow, just go with War his harmless he won't bite unless he's hungry you know? Nothing is wrong going home together; you guys live right next to each other. So just go Yellow, sorry this happens" Luke says and points to her drunk sister. "We'll get going, okay? Just ride home with War Yellow." Luke says again and they leave us outside the bar.
I faced Yellow "If you still are not okay with the idea of riding home with me, I'll let you call an uber then I'll trail you or we can just ride uber together."
She shakes her head "No, it just I think you're going somewhere after this and I'll be inconvenient you know" she muttered
Is tilting my head inconvenient? What in the world is she thinking? "What do you mean inconvenient? Going home together is very convenient. Yellow it's so much better for the environment. Where do you think I am going at this late?"
"I don't know." she answered with uncertainty. I watch her again as she hugs herself as the cold wind blows. I remove my hoodie; I can't just watch her freeze in this cold wind. I sense she is going to say that she's fine so I stop her right away.
"You are clearly cold, Heart. Stop saying you're fine with it when totally freezing and my car is parked at the arena. It's a fifteen minute walk from here. Wear it Heart so you won't die in the cold." I told her.
She reached for the hoodie and put it on. "Happy now? Lead the way, Maddison." She rolled her eyes
I lead the way like she said "Seriously now you're throwing me a attitude, Heart?" We're walking side by side yet she distancing herself.
"You're bossing me around"
"I'm not" I defend.
"Oh, yes you are." 'Stop saying you're fine with it when totally freezing, wear it Heart so you won't die in the cold.' you totally did" She mimicked
I can't help but to laugh while she intimates my voice and she looks fucking cure while doing it. "Seriously, just because of that? And do you know how cute you are just now while you are intimating me, Heart?"
She shoots me her narrow eyes "Are flirting with me just right now Warrick? Cause trust me it's not working." she denies, well she can deny it all she wants but the fact that her cheeks turned instant read says it all.
The corner of my mouth turned up "Oh really Heart cause your cheeks just turned red."
She bit her lips fuck those lips for her I tempted to kiss it "It's not, it's just cold. Anyway, where's Rory? Shouldn't you be with her instead here?" she changes the topic
"She's with my parents having a sleepover, so clearly it's a child free tonight" I replied
"Oh- I see... I haven't seen her for the past two weeks."
I agree with her, she rarely went out of her house. "Because you don't go out, Heart. You know she's been asking if I see you, obviously I don't."
"Well, you are not home every time as well to see me." she shrugs. She's not wrong though, It's either I'm at practice or out of town.
"How's tonight's game? Did you enjoy it?" I ask her. She shoves her hands at the pocket of the hoodie
"I did, you played well, but if you think that wink will make me your fan you are wrong."
"Glad you did enjoy and for the compliment, but what made you think I was shooting the wink at you, Heart? Aren't you Assuming?" She remained silent "Joking Heart, of course it was for you" I watched her roll her eyes once again. "Roll your eyes again Heart I swear to you the next time you roll your eyes because I'm giving you an orgasm." I vowed to her. She pressed her lips together and her face reddened.
"You okay there, Heart?" I check
"I- why do you have to say that!" she grumbles
"What? You've been rolling your eyes too much today, Heart in case no one told you yet."
"It's because you're annoying you know?" she reasoned
"What did I do to annoy you?"
She glances at me and back the path we're walking. Her mouth parted but she pressed it again together. And just shakes her head. What did I do to annoy her? Is she annoyed because I'm flirting with her? Or because I made her uncomfortable? So, we just walked in silence.
After a not so long silent walk back to the arena. We're in front of my car, opening the door for her. Before I hop in the car. The drive from the arena to our house is only twenty minutes. She was silent throughout the drive. I did not bother to turn on the radio as well.
When we arrived I parked in my driveway. She was about to open her seat's door. But I automatically locked it. She looked at me confused. "Yellow did I make you uncomfortable?" I asked her.
She was staring at me. "No, you did not." she muttered
"Then what is it?"
"Nothing Warrick seriously, I'm just tired, it's been a long night for me. Can I just go?"
My eye landed to her lips I'm a man with so much self control but now fuck self-restraint. I leaned closer and I cupped her face "Tell me I can kiss you, Heart." Her chest going up and down our faces are inches away.
