After 2 months
The sun streamed through the windows of the small but bustling catering agency where Yashika worked.
It was a new day filled with possibilities, and Yashika walked in with her usual cheerful smile, greeting everyone she passed.
Her colleagues nodded back, some chuckling knowingly-they were already used to Yashika's unique blend of charm and clumsiness.
She knocked lightly on the cabin door of Sukhmani Lalwani, her boss and mentor, a Sindhi woman in her 50s who radiated both elegance and warmth.
Her striking features and authoritative presence made her the heart of the agency, but to Yashika, she was like a family.
"Good morning, ma'am!" Yashika chirped as she entered.
Sukhmani looked up from her desk, her face breaking into a delighted smile. "E pat, ton hati aaheen, aho tamam sutho aahy, ati tohan la hak khushkhabri aahy."
("Oh child, you are here! This is very good, and there is good news for you.")
Yashika blinked, utterly lost. "Uh... Ma'am?"
Sukhmani let out a hearty laugh, waving her hand. "Arre, I keep forgetting you don't understand Sindhi! I said, there's some good news for you."
Yashika's face lit up. "Really? What is it, ma'am?"
Sukhmani leaned forward, her excitement palpable. "Maine tera resume Maheshwari's ke yaha bheja hai"
"Maheshwari's?" Yashika asked confusingly.
Sukhmani's smile grew wider. "Maheshwari's ka naam suna hai?"
Yashika tilted her head, thinking hard. "Uh... nahi, ma'am."
Sukhmani dramatically slapped her forehead. "Charyo chhokri! ("Crazy girl!") Kis duniya mein rehti hai tu?"
Yashika giggled, knowing her boss's playful exasperation well. "Bataiye na, ma'am."
Sukhmani shook her head, still grinning. "The Maheshwaris are one of the biggest business families in the city. They're expanding into the FMCG industry and opening a restaurant right here in Pune. And guess what? They need a cook."
Yashika's eyes widened. "Really?!"
"Yes, really! They're conducting interviews", She slid a piece of paper across the desk with the address. "Go there, give the interview, and show them what you're made of. This could be a huge opportunity for you, Yashika."
Yashika clutched the paper, her excitement bubbling over. "Thank you so much, ma'am! I won't let you down."
Sukhmani waved her hand dismissively. "Arre chhokri, apno ko koi thank you bolta hai kya?"
Yashika laughed, tucking the paper into her bag.
"And one more thing," Sukhmani added, her tone turning mock-serious. "Wahan jaake girna padna mat. Aur na kisi ke upar kuch girana. Varna bahut maarungi tujhe!"
Yashika laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head. "I promise, ma'am. No clumsiness there!"
Sukhmani raised an eyebrow. "Hmm... dekhte hain. But knowing you, Yashika, I think chaos is written in your stars. Just try not to bring the building down, okay?"
With a sheepish smile and a quick nod, Yashika left the cabin, clutching the address tightly.
Her heart raced with anticipation, a mix of excitement and nervousness swirling in her chest.
