Peter sat in the back of his college classroom, barely able to focus on the lecture. His mind was far away—back at Stark Tower, where MJ was nearing her due date. His heart ached with every passing minute, knowing that he was away from her. But work demanded his presence here, and Tony had insisted he stick to his commitments.

Harley and Morgan had stayed behind to help MJ, and Wade and Ned had both taken the day off to be there for her as well. So, Peter was alone, surrounded by classmates he barely cared about, most of whom were giving him less-than-friendly attention.

"Hey Parker," Flash said, leaning over the desk. "How’s your ‘future kid’ doing? Got a name picked out yet?"

Peter gritted his teeth, trying to ignore him. Flash had been relentless ever since MJ’s pregnancy announcement. “It’s not something I’m talking about right now, Flash.”

Jason, sitting on the other side, grinned. “I can’t believe you're gonna be a dad. You think you'll be able to handle it? Or are you just gonna be the ‘funny uncle’ while MJ does all the work?”

Rachel chimed in, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Yeah, good luck with that. You’re gonna have to get used to being woken up in the middle of the night by crying babies. Guess that means no more late-night web-swinging, huh?”

Peter felt his patience waning, his jaw clenched. He knew they were only teasing, but the comments felt too personal. He was already anxious enough about MJ’s condition, and they weren’t helping. It was taking everything in him to hold his tongue.

“Guys, please,” he muttered, looking down at his phone in an attempt to ignore them.

But they weren’t letting up.

“Come on, Parker, you’re gonna be the dad now," Flash pressed. "Got any advice on how to be a good one? Or should we just wait for the baby to arrive and learn the hard way?”

Jason snickered. "Yeah, Peter. Should we expect your kid to be as weird as you?”

Rachel leaned in, her smirk widening. "Or is it going to inherit MJ’s brains, and you can just focus on the fun stuff like—what is it?—being the fun dad?”

Peter was about to snap back at them when his phone buzzed in his pocket. His heart skipped a beat. He pulled it out to see Tony’s name flashing on the screen. The moment he saw the call, his stomach dropped.

The teacher paused, noticing the commotion in the back of the room. "Mr. Parker, I see you have an incoming call," she said. "I trust this is important? If so, you know the rule."

Peter looked up at her, eyes wide with panic. He didn’t want to answer the call in front of everyone, but he had no choice. The teacher gave him an understanding nod, a silent signal that she knew what was going on and that she would allow him to leave if necessary. Peter swallowed his anxiety, his fingers trembling as he answered the call on speaker.

“Hello?” he said, his voice quiet, though his heart was racing.

The sound of Tony’s frantic voice came through the speaker. “Peter, it's time. MJ’s going into labor—baby-father protocol activated. I need you here now.”

Peter froze, his breath catching in his throat. The entire room went silent at the sound of Tony’s voice, though none of his classmates had any idea what was happening.

The teacher’s gaze met Peter’s, and she gave him a reassuring nod, as if silently telling him to go. Peter didn't waste another second. Without a word, he stood up from his seat, grabbing his bag and heading toward the door.

Jason’s voice cut through the tension. “Wait—what? What the hell? Why is he leaving? Is he really that excited about being a dad?”

Rachel raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t he a little too young to just bail out of class like that?”

Flash leaned forward, eyeing Peter as he rushed out. “What’s going on? Wasn’t that Tony Stark on the phone?”

Peter didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. He barely even heard their confused comments as he ran out of the classroom, feeling his heart race even faster as he sprinted toward the exit.

Back at Stark Tower

As soon as Peter burst through the door of Stark Tower, he was met by Harley, Morgan, and Wade, who were already gathered in the hallway, anxiously pacing.

“Peter!” Morgan rushed over, her expression worried. “Is everything okay? What happened? Why did you leave?”

Peter shook his head, not trusting his voice. “MJ—she’s in labor. I need to be with her.”

Harley gave him a sympathetic look. “Of course. We’ve got everything under control here. Go. We’ve got this.”

Peter didn’t need any more encouragement. He quickly made his way to MJ’s room, his heart pounding in his chest. As he walked in, he saw Tony standing by MJ’s side, looking just as anxious as Peter felt.

“Hey,” Tony said softly, giving Peter a tight smile. “You made it.”

Peter nodded, walking over to MJ’s side, his hand immediately finding hers. “I’m here, baby. I’m not going anywhere.”

MJ looked at him, a small, strained smile tugging at her lips. “I thought you weren’t gonna make it…”

Peter kissed her hand, feeling a wave of relief flood through him. “I’ll always be here for you. Always.”

Just as he sat down next to her, the others—Harley, Morgan, and Wade—entered, giving them space while keeping a close watch.

Back in the Classroom

Inside the classroom, Jason, Flash, and Rachel were still whispering to each other, confusion written on their faces. The teacher hadn’t explained anything to them, and Peter’s sudden departure had left them with a million questions.

“Did anyone else get the feeling that Peter was rushing out because of something… important?” Jason asked, his voice laced with suspicion.

Flash nodded slowly. “Yeah. But what? Was it really Tony Stark? Why would he call Peter, of all people?”

Rachel leaned back in her chair, frowning. “Something’s off. I don’t know what it is, but… something’s definitely off.”

But the bell rang soon after, signaling the end of class. The students shuffled out, still discussing the strange events of the day, completely unaware of the true reason behind Peter’s sudden departure.
