Junior year was coming to an end, and Alex was starting to think about college. They had always been a good student, and they knew that they wanted to go to a good school. But they also didn't want to leave their friends and family behind.

They started to research colleges, looking at their programs, their locations, and their costs. They visited a few campuses, and they talked to admissions counselors and current students. They were overwhelmed by all the options, and they didn't know what to do.

One day, Alex was talking to their parents about college. They told them that they were confused and that they didn't know where to apply. Their parents listened patiently, and then they gave them some advice. They told them to follow their heart and to choose a college that was the right fit for them.

Alex took their parents' advice to heart. They thought about what they wanted to study and what kind of environment they wanted to be in. They also thought about their friends and family, and they realized that they didn't want to be too far away from home.

Finally, Alex made a decision. They decided to apply to a few colleges in their state, as well as a few out-of-state schools. They spent hours working on their applications, writing essays and filling out forms. They also asked their teachers and friends to write letters of recommendation for them.

As the application deadlines approached, Alex started to get nervous. They were worried that they wouldn't get into any of the colleges they had applied to. But they also knew that they had done their best, and they had to trust the process.
