________________________________________okay, lets get one thing straight, your life wasnt easy. now, im not trying to sound pick me, but it wasnt. it definitely wasnt as hard as a demon slayer or some shit, but still fairly close.
you were only fourteen and taking care of your two little siblings while your parents were out doing god knows what.
it honestly bothered you that you had to be taking care of your siblings while your parents were out partying instead of actually, y'know, doing they're job? but its not like you had any say in it, if you DID, you would be a demon slayer like how your older sister used to be.
like, being a demon slayer? hella cool. well, atleast in your opinion.
. . .
you calmly folded the slightly small kimono, running the fabric through your fingers as you place it gently onto your futon.
folding clothes was a task you minded the least, finding it relaxing and not to hard to do compared to getting your siblings to bed and such.
you pause, blinking as you stare down at the haori your sister had left you when she passed.
a beautiful white haori with tiny blue snowflakes scattered on the bottom of the sleeves, the japanese character of 'destroy' on the back of it in black.
you had always thought that was somewhat badass, having the word 'destroy' on the demon slayer uniform and or haoris.
you thought it was cool, especially you sisters.
after she had passed, you made a promise to yourself that one day you would become the frost hashira like her and take her place.
of course, it would likely never happen due to you being tasked the chore of handling your siblings until your atleast eighteen.
sighing, you fold the fabric gently, placing it ontop of your futon and giving it one last glance before going back to the task at hand.
"KAW, KAW, LETTER FOR KANROJI MITSURI!"
you pause your task abruptly once again, sighing in annoyance and turning your head the sound of a crows voice echoing through your house.
you hadnt heard the name kanorji mitsuri in what felt like years. your sister was her tsuguko, casuing kanroji to visit rather often, but after her death you barely heard from her again.
the thought of her always made you pout. mitsuri was such a sweetheart, and somtimes even helped you and your sister out with chores. when she wasnt out on missions, of course.
but why would that crow be here? you weren't kanroji, and you weren't anyone special to write letters to.
you pull yourself off the floor, standing and walking into the quiet but yet very bright living room, the sun casting shadows on the hard floor of your living room.
"hello?" you mumbled out, walking towards the front door and pausing when your eyes land on a small—female kasugai crow—promptly holding a letter in her beak, dropping it infront of your feet.
you watched as she flies away, slightly confused and not realising what happened until she was fully gone, not getting a chance to say 'hey, wrong person!' or something like that.
you lean down, grabbing the letter with a perplexed look, staring at it before closing the front door and walking back to your room.
you walk in, peeking through your window to see your siblings laughing and playing outside.
smiling to yourself, you sit down onto your futon and look at the letter once again. it would be rude to open up a letter meant for kanroji, but you were so curious.
knowing this was 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘭𝘺 wrong, you open the letter gingerly and hesitantly read the insides of it.
'ᴛᴏ, ᴋᴀɴʀᴏᴊɪ ᴍɪᴛꜱᴜʀɪ—
ᴘʟᴇᴀꜱᴇ ᴅᴏɴᴛ ʙʀɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴍᴏᴄʜɪ..ᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴏᴠᴇʀ. ɪᴛꜱ ɪɴᴛᴇʀʀᴜᴘᴛɪɴɢ ᴍʏ ᴛʀᴀɪɴɪɴɢ.ᴛᴏᴋɪᴛᴏ ᴍᴜɪᴄʜɪʀᴏ.'
『と、甘露寺蜜璃――
餅を持ち込まないでください。それは私のトレーニングを妨げます。時透無一郎』
that was kinda a rude letter to send to kanroji of all people? the name tokito muichiro did sound familiar, though. when your sister was still alive, she would tell you about the other hashiras.
one of them being tokito muichiro, the 'child prodigy.' she had wanted you two to become friends, but you never ended up meeting him before she passed.
. . .
"y/n!! whats for dinner?" your ten year old sister shouted, running inside hand in hand with your six year old younger brother.
you turn your head to them, smiling and kneeling to they're level.
"well, i might have to go to the store—"
"is mama and daddy here?" the youngest sibling asked, looking up at you with puppy dog eyes.
since they were so young, you never had gotten the opportunity to actually explain what your living system was, and how you all couldn't be near your parents.
but you also didn't want to tell them, in fear they might go to your neighbours and tell them and have you all in an orphanage.
"well, mommy and daddy are out working! they might not be back today, so what do you want for dinner that i can make?" you said, smiling and patting they're heads affectionately.
"uhm..onigiri! or udon!!" your sister said, grinning widely at you.
you sweatdrop at her cheery and positive attitude. they were both outside playing all day, how were they not tired-?
"i would have to go to the market." you said, sighing and standing up straight, looking down at them.
"hmm..okay!!" your sister said, giggling and grabbing the hand of your younger brother and pulling him down the hallway.
i guess you had to go to the store now..?
