Welcome to my first sunsun book :)

...

The summer sun was warm, casting a golden glow over the small park near Sunoo's house. Children's laughter filled the air, mingling with the rhythmic creak of swings and the occasional bark of a dog chasing its tail. Among them were Sunoo and Sunghoon, sitting cross-legged on the grass with an open box of crayons and a shared notebook sprawled between them.

"Look! This is you," Sunoo said proudly, holding up a crude drawing of a stick figure with slightly lopsided hair.

Sunghoon raised an eyebrow. "That's me?"

"Yep! And this is me," Sunoo continued, pointing to another stick figure standing next to Sunghoon's. His own figure had a giant smiley face and colorful clothes that Sunghoon would later insist were unrealistic.

Sunghoon frowned slightly. "Why is your guy so much bigger?"

"Because I'm cooler, obviously," Sunoo teased, sticking out his tongue.

Sunghoon didn't reply but grabbed a blue crayon and carefully added a crown to his stick figure. "Now I'm cooler."

Sunoo giggled, clapping his hands. "Okay, okay. We're both cool. Happy?"

A small smile crept onto Sunghoon's face. "Yeah. Happy."

The two had been inseparable since they met during a first-grade art class. Sunoo, with his bright personality and endless chatter, had made it his mission to befriend the quiet boy sitting alone in the corner.

"Hi! I'm Sunoo. What's your name?"

"...Sunghoon," he had replied, barely looking up from his drawing.

Sunoo tilted his head, intrigued by the boy's aloof demeanor. "You're good at drawing. Wanna be friends?"

Sunghoon blinked, his pencil still in mid-air. "Friends?"

"Yeah! You know, like people who hang out and talk and do fun stuff together."

"...Okay."

That one word was all it took for Sunoo to decide that Sunghoon was going to be his best friend.

Back in the park, Sunoo jumped to his feet, brushing off bits of grass. "Let's go to the swings!"

Sunghoon stayed seated, eyeing the swings skeptically. "You know I don't like those."

"Why not? They're fun!"

"I don't know... I just don't."

Sunoo pouted, crossing his arms. "But I can't push myself."

Sunghoon sighed, already knowing where this was going. "Fine. But only for five minutes."

Sunoo's face lit up as he grabbed Sunghoon's hand, dragging him toward the swings. "You're the best, Hoonie!"

Sunghoon let out a small grunt but didn't pull away. He didn't like swings, but for Sunoo, he'd make an exception.

Later that afternoon, the two sat side by side on a bench, sharing a popsicle. Sunoo took a big bite, his cheeks puffing out as he chewed.

"Hoonie," he said, his voice muffled, "do you think we'll be best friends forever?"

Sunghoon glanced at him, his own popsicle melting slowly in his hand. "Why are you asking that?"

"Just wondering."

Sunghoon thought for a moment. "Yeah. I think so."

Sunoo grinned, leaning his head against Sunghoon's shoulder. "Good. Because I don't want to be best friends with anyone else."

Sunghoon's cheeks turned pink, but he didn't say anything. He simply shifted slightly, making sure Sunoo was comfortable.

As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the park, the two boys sat in companionable silence. For now, life was simple. They were just Hoonie and Sunoo—two best friends sharing a popsicle and a promise that, no matter what, they'd always have each other.
