Nice, you think, biting your lip a little. While you wipe down the table at the restaurant you work at, your eyes trail to a certain blonde in the corner. He's sitting all alone in a booth, silent as he drinks a big cup of beer with a couple chicken wings on his plate. Mostly, instead of eating, he stares out the window right beside him, a pained look on his features.
Fact is, he is definitely too old for you. By a lot. But, you can still stare, can't you? A pretty man is a pretty man. And, the way you see it, so long as it isn't creepy, it's fine.
Since the others on the wait staff are busy, you go to him when his mug his empty.
Putting on your customer-service smile, you say, "Hey hey! Would you like s'more of your drink, sir?"
Instead of turning his head, he simply rolls his eyes into your direction. "Sure. Fill 'er up, I guess."
"Might I ask, are you okay?" You crouch onto the floor beside him, tilting your head as you give him a genuine, concerned smile. "You seem not okay."
Finally. he moves his whole head, keeping an indifferent expression. "I'm fine. Just get me another drink."
"Of course. If that's what you like, very well. But, you should know that it won't fix whatever's wrong. I may be underage, but I do know that alcohol isn't some kind of magic that makes all your problems better."
Why did I just admit that I'm a kid?
"Listen, kid, just mind your business. Don't go butting your head into adult affairs."
You sigh. "Keep this up, and you won't have any friends or family left." Standing. you take his empty cup and head to the kitchen.
Some people just can't be helped, you guess.•0.0.o.o
After getting off of work from the restaurant, you head to your job at a hotel. There, you work at the front and check people in and out.
The moment you're there, you change into uniform then go to the desk.
In not even a few moments, the same blonde man from earlier walks in.
Head down, he walks up to the desk, then says, "One room please."
"Got it. Name?"
"Laxus Dreyar.
"M'kay, How many nights do you plan to stay?"
"Probably a bout three."
"Okay, I will need an up- front payment of about 340 jewel."
After digging in a coin purse, he drops the money onto the desk.
Then, he looks up. Meeting your eyes, He raises a brow, "Weren't you just at that restaurant?"
"Yes, go off a little while ago. I also work here and the convenience store across the street."
"Do you sleep?"
"Yes, I have five hours off work each day, so I take two hours for responsibilities at home and another three for sleeping. Thank you for asking."
"You're a little young for that. Well, you're a little young to look like you just lost everything important to you."
"Obviously I'm not to young if that has happened."
He takes the key from your hand, "Room number?"
"222."
"Okay, Thank you." He turns around and leaves, looking fine as ever.o.0.0
It's been seven-and-a- half years since you last saw Laxus Dreyar. Mostly, you don't really think about it. He was good-looking. But with a major attitude. So, after a bout a week of him leaving you forgot all about him.
That is, until now. He's back in the restaurant you work at, sitting in the same spot. Just like last time, his posture suggests some sort of longing, and his cheeks are tinted pink, probably from the alcohol.
Since his cup is empty, you come over. "More beer?"
"Sure."
You grab the cup, but before you go, he says, "I remember you."
"Yes. I remember you, as well. You don't look any different from back then." With a smile, you go to leave.
When you come back with his cup. there's a bunch of girls with him in the booth. One sits in his lap and the rest are cramped side-by-side, hip-to hip. Shaking your head, you come over and place the cup on his table, unamused by how he seems to enjoy the feminine attention.
"Anything else you need?" you ask, ready to leave as soon as possible. This scene leaves a very sour feeling in your stomach.
He waves you off. "Nope. I'm good."
Turning on your heels, you make your way for the back. You're getting off in about a minute. The moment you get to your destination, it's time to go. So you take your apron off and start stripping, needing to get dressed for your job at the hotel.
"Not bad."
Jumping. you cover yourself and turn. Laxus is standing there, arms folded and eyebrows raised.
"Y- y- y- DIDNT YOU SEE THE SIGN THAT SAID EMPLOYEES ONLY?!?!?!?!"
"I came to give you a tip."
He hands over a bag of jewel.
"Uh-"
"You gonna take it or what?"
"My hands are out of commission."
Paying no mind, he pulls your hand off your breast and puts the bag in it. "Problem solved."
"I- PROBLEM NOT SOLVED!" You cover yourself again, heat radiating off your cheeks. "PERVERT!!! GET OUT!!"
"I was planning to, before you started yelling."
He leaves, thankfully closing the door behind him. The nerve!
Angrily, you make toward the hotel. He' better not be staying there tonight. If he is, you'll kill him.
Yet, as fate would have it, he's there. The moment he sees you, he gives a sly smile, to which you just roll your eyes.
"How many nights?" you ask, not bothering with pleasantries.
"Dunno yet. It's for a mission."
"You have to pay half up front."
"Let's just say three days then."
"469 jewel."
"Why so much?! It was only three- something last time!"
"Inflation."
"That's ridiculous."
"Suck it up."
"Aren't you just crabby?"
"Shut up."
"Ouch."
You hand him a room key. "109.""Got it, babe."
"Don't call that."
"Fine, fine. Whatever floats your boat, doll."
You glare.
With an annoying grin, he takes the key and walks away making you grit your teeth in annoyance.Title

It has been longer than three days. It has been a month. And he still won't leave."How long is this mission?" you ask him one day at the restaurant you work at. The one he comes to every day to bother you.
"Oh, it's over, I'm just fond of this place."
"Right, of course."
"What? In a rush to get rid of me, darling?"
"Yes, I'm sick of you."
"Ouch. You so wound me, babe."
"You-"
"Don't you ever have any days off?"
"No."
"Well take the whole day off tomorrow."
"Why?"
"Do it and see."
"I will do no such thing."‣0.o.0.o
All of your jobs contacted you, saying to take the day off. And, what's worse, is when Laxus is at your door, despite you not even knowing how he knows where you live.
"What the actual heck?" you say, pissed off.
"I'm taking you out. Let's go."
"No."
"I didn't ask."
"I don't even know your age!"
"Twenty-four."
"It's still a no!"
He grabs your hand and starts dragging you outside.
"This is crazy!"
"Yes, you are."
"Argh! You are infuriating!"
"That's what everybody else says, too."
"I hate you."
His grip on your hand tightens. "Thanks."
The next thing you know, you're at the little restaurant and sitting down opposite to him. He's very quiet and slightly distant, not bothering to make much conversation.
"What am I doing here, Laxus Dreyar?"
"What do you think you're doing here?"
"I wouldn't be asking if I knew."
"You're on a date, idiot."
"And why would I do that?"
"Because a very good-looking man is sitting right in front of you and no one in their right mind would give that up."
"Then I must not be in my right mind." You stand up.
"F/N, stay. You may not believe it, but I like you. So can you just give me a chance?"
"Why would you like me?"
"I just do. Now sit down before I tie you to a chair."
"You're not doing a great job selling yourself."
"Did I ask?"
"Yeah, I definitely hate you."
"Yeah, well I'm into that."
"Masochist much?"
"Probably." His eyes shine and you can't help but sit back down. This will be interesting.
And that, in the future, will be the best thing you ever did.
