The next morning, Kalawarner woke up in one of the guest rooms of Naruto's house, disoriented and wondering how she ended up in this unfamiliar place. She quickly tensed, creating a light spear and launching it toward the door as it opened.
"Who are you?" Kalawarner demanded, her voice sharp with suspicion. But then she froze as she recognized Raynare entering the room, looking startled as the spear barely missed her head.
"Ray-chan?" Kalawarner asked, lowering her weapon as she took in her friend's familiar face.
"The one and only," Raynare replied, letting out a sigh of relief as she glanced at the spear still lodged in the door. "Great... now what do I tell Naruto-kun about that door?" she thought. With a small smile, she placed a tray with a delicious breakfast on Kalawarner's lap. "I brought you breakfast, Kala-chan."
Kalawarner eyed Raynare seriously. "Ray, where are we?" she asked, frowning. "I remember attacking humans, but... it's all so unclear. What's going on?"
Raynare nodded, her expression turning somber. "Kala-chan, something happened. Kokabiel used us—he manipulated us into attacking humans with sacred gears, all to start a war," she explained, looking away. "But thanks to the owner of this house, we're free from his control. He's protecting us from Kokabiel now."
Kalawarner processed this, her face gradually softening. "Then I owe this man my thanks," she said seriously. "What's his name?"
Raynare chuckled. "I'm surprised you don't remember—he's the blond guy who defeated you yesterday."
Kalawarner's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, he's the owner of this place?" She glanced down at the breakfast. "He has good taste, I'll give him that. I'll eat, and then I'll thank him properly."
Raynare laughed lightly. "You might have to wait a bit. Today we have school, and he and I won't be back until later. It's all part of Kuoh's plan to keep an eye on Naruto," she said, her tone calm.
Just then, Naruto's voice called from downstairs. "Raynare, it's time to go!"
Raynare gave Kalawarner an apologetic smile. "See you later, Kala-chan!"
"I'm coming," Raynare said, standing up as Kalawarner followed her. They headed downstairs to where Naruto was waiting for them. "I'm ready! I was giving Kalawarner her breakfast," she said with a smile to the blonde.
"Finally, you're up," he said, glancing over at his new housemate. "I hope you're settling in. I'll leave a clone here so you can ask for anything you need." With that, he made a shadow clone, surprising the fallen angel.
"What... what kind of human are you?" Kalawarner asked, touching the clone in disbelief. She expected it to be an illusion, but it was solid. "This clone feels real! I didn't think any human could do this."
Naruto smiled. "I'm a bit of a unique human," he grinned. "But we can save the questions for later." He opened the door for Raynare. "Feel free to explore the place, but please don't go into the study on the third floor; some personal documents are there." He was thinking of his incomplete Fūinjutsu notes. "Well, see you later!" he said, heading toward the institute.
Kalawarner watched him go, intrigued. "Interesting boy," she murmured with a smile. She settled onto the couch and turned on the TV.
15 MINUTES LATER
Naruto and Raynare were on their way to the institute a few minutes later, ready for another boring school day. They noticed a strange scene as they passed through the park where Naruto and Raynare first met. Issei had bumped into a girl in a nun's outfit, causing her to stumble and drop her belongings. Before she could fall into the fountain, Naruto quickly used his Body Flicker Technique (Shunshin no Jutsu), appearing on the fountain's edge and catching her.
"You okay?" Naruto asked as the girl landed on his lap.
"H-hai," the girl stammered, her face partially covered by a headscarf. Naruto noticed her voice had a different accent than most locals. "Why am I so clumsy," she muttered in Italian, catching Naruto's attention.
"Excuse me, may I ask your name?" Naruto said, switching to Italian. He had picked up several languages during his months of training. "Are you alright?" he asked again, and just then, a gust of wind blew her scarf back, revealing her face. Naruto couldn't help but blush.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, please forgive me," she said in broken Japanese.
"No problem," Naruto replied with a friendly smile. "And no need to speak Japanese. I can speak Italian too."
"Thank you so much," she said, bowing deeply, making Naruto chuckle slightly. "I'm new here and still learning my way around."
"Naruto-kun, everything okay?" Raynare asked, her gaze shifting to the blonde girl. "And who is this?" she added, both entirely ignoring Issei, who was still standing nearby, confused.
"That's what I wanted to find out," Naruto said, bending down to pick up the girl's scattered clothes from the floor. "But she seems to speak Italian."
"I see," Raynare replied, then turned to the girl. "Hi, I'm Raynare," she said in Italian.
"Oh, hello! I'm Asia Argento, a nun sent from Italy to spread the word of God," Asia replied with a warm smile. "Thank you for helping me out. I know it's a lot to ask, but do you know where the church is?"
"The church?" Raynare asked, pausing for a moment, thinking.
"I know the place," Naruto said, closing Asia's suitcase and lifting it. "I'll take you there." He turned to Raynare, smiling. "You should head to the school, and be careful." Leaning in, he whispered, "Watch out for Issei; I've sensed some bad energy around him lately." Straightening up, he said, "Alright, Asia-chan, let's go."
Raynare watched them go, then shrugged and started walking toward the institute. ("I wonder what's up with that idiot, Issei") she thought, glancing back at Asia and noticing Issei following. She muttered, "Ugh, what a creep."
Raynare walked for a few minutes until she felt someone grab her arm, shoving her against the wall.
"Hey, Ray-chan," Issei said, his voice low and angry.
"What are you doing, Issei? Let me go, or I swear I'll make you regret it," Raynare snapped, disgusted.
Issei smirked. "Listen, fallen angel, you'll do what I say. Or else..." He grinned, his voice oozing with smugness. "I'll tell everyone what I saw yesterday, that your little blond friend is a fallen angel, just like you. Think about it," he said, leaning closer. "You could join my harem instead—I'll make it worth your while."
Raynare glared, then spat in his face. "Never."
"Why you—" Issei raised his hand to slap her, but a blade suddenly appeared at his neck.
"Step away from her, you perverted devil," a calm voice said, pressing the blade closer. "Or I'll end you right here."
