Chapter 19 - With Shyness

Ryuto was in the bathroom brushing his teeth when he heard Mikan calling from downstairs.

Mikan: Ryuto, if you're up, can you wake Rito? Breakfast is almost ready!

Ryuto: Sure thing!

Finishing up, Ryuto rinsed his mouth, dried his face, and made his way to Rito's door. Knocking lightly, he got no response.

Ryuto: Rito? Time to get up!

Hearing nothing, Ryuto sighed and pushed the door open. Inside, he saw Rito lying in bed, completely motionless under the blanket.

Ryuto: Hey, lazybones, breakfast won't wait forever.

Rito groggily opened his eyes and blinked at Ryuto, still half-asleep.

Rito: Hmm... Ryuto?

Suddenly, a faint sneeze came from under the blanket. Ryuto froze as Rito sat up slightly, pulling the blanket back. Lala was completely naked, and snuggled up next to Rito.

Rito's face turned bright red as he let out a panicked scream.

Rito: Lala! What are you doing in my bed again?! Sleep in your own room already!

The noise startled Lala awake. She sat up groggily, rubbing her eyes.

Lala: Rito...?

Looking down at herself, she realized her lack of clothing and immediately turned beet red. Grabbing the blanket, she bolted out of the room, screaming.

Rito slumped back against his bed, confused, while Ryuto leaned against the doorway, arms crossed.

Rito: Wh-What was that reaction just now?

Ryuto: You know, Rito, I came here to wake you up, not to witness... whatever that was.

Rito groaned, rubbing his temples as Ryuto left the room. Moments later, they both headed downstairs for breakfast.

As they sat down, Lala came down the stairs and joined them at the table.

Rito: Say, Lala...

Lala: Say, Mikan, could you teach me how to cook some time?

Mikan: Okay...

Lala: Thanks, Mikan.

Rito frowned, noticing Lala avoiding his gaze. Lala blushed faintly, glancing away and focusing intently on her breakfast.

Ryuto's thoughts: She's actually embarrassed? That's new.

After they finished eating, the three of them headed out, making their way to school. Lala walked ahead, keeping a noticeable distance from Rito.

Rito: What are you mad about?

Lala: Sorry Rito, I'm not mad at you. It's just...

Rito: Just what?

Lala: I... I... I was embarrassed.

Ryuto: Now that's not something I ever thought I'd hear coming from you.

Risa: Yoohoo! Lala-chi!

Mio: Good morning!

The group looked up to see Haruna, Risa, and Mio walking toward them.

Haruna: Good morning, Ryuto-kun, Yuuki-kun, Lala-san.

Ryuto: Morning.

Rito: Y-Yeah, good morning.
