The Greater Polaris Empire was the first expanding Empire that brought Humanity into the Interstellar age. However, they were not the only Empire that would expand into the Galaxy... the Polaris Empire alone colonized over 2,550 worlds while the other eight Empires colonized thousands more.
One world in particular was of great importance. At 48,269 kilometers in diameter, Laitis was the planet that Polaris considered to be their workhorse planet. They sent prisoners that did bad things as well as other unwanted people to the world... unaware of what this would do for their future.
Gourma, the moon around Laitis, was also settled by these forced immigrants. The 9,505 kilometer in diameter moon is considerably huge compared to Earth. Laitis was one of the largest terrestrial worlds that Polaris found, and opted to keep it for themselves.
This was a literal Paradise. It had every major biome of a world that they needed. They had Mountains, Forests, Snowy Tundra, Deserts and flat plains rich in minerals. It even orbited a brand new Orange Dwarf star in the outer habitable zone. It was perfect for long time scale settlement, likely Tens of Billions of years. Hell, it may even survive for all of it's stars history as a habitable planet.
For generations upon generations, Laitis and Gourma were colonized as the System they were in would be named Yetal. This would be important for the future, and this would be placed in the Abkgoran Sector of Galactic Space. This also will be important for the future. By more Contemporary times, Laitis and Gourma were incredibly rich and industrious.
