Light through the window is what woke Althea up. She groaned and felt around before noticing that she wasn't in her bed at the Dursleys’ before remembering the night before. She sat up and check her watch before her eyes went wide. It was almost 8:30.
Althea shot out of bed muttering ‘shit’ as she did. She bolted to her trunk before searching through it and pulled out a white button up. She slipped it over her black jeans from the night before and threw on a black vest before rushing to brush her teeth and hair.
She had been an idiot to think Harry would wake her up on time. That twat was probably still asleep. She ran to his room and banged on the door. “Harry! I swear on Godric Gryffindor if you're still asleep-”
“Do you mind keeping the noise down? I'm reading,” the painting across from her hissed.
Althea glanced at the painting and blushed. “Sorry.” No matter how many years she'd gone to Hogwarts, every year she came back for the Dursleys it still shocked her when a painting would talk.
The painting sighed and put the book down. “It's no problem deary. If you're looking for your brother he went towards the pub about thirty minutes ago.”
She thanked the painting before barreling down the stairs of the Leaky Cauldron. She could hear her friends and Harry already at breakfast. She prayed her eyeliner wasn't too smudged or that her hair wasn't too messy as she put on the jewelry she'd stuffed in her pocket.
"You know the Egyptians used to worship cats?" Hermione spat, holding an orange fluff ball.
"Yeah, along with the Dung Beetle," Ron replied. Althea thought it was way too early for them to be arguing.
"You're not flashing that clipping about again, are you, Ron?" Fred asked as he and George appeared behind their brother.
"I haven't shown anyone," Ron whined as Fred grabbed the clipping before they started to walk around the table.
"No, not a soul," George replied, sarcastically. "Not unless you count Tom.."
"The day maid.."
"The night maid…"
"The cook…"
"That bloke that came to fix the toilet…."
"And that wizard from Belgium," Fred finished.
"Hey leave your brother alone," Althea defended as she walked around the table to join them. "He's excited."
They turned to her with wide grins. “Oh if it isn't the great Althea Black,” the twins teased as she got closer.
“And if it isn't my two least favorite people on the planet,” she snarked back as she crossed her arms over chest.
George put a hand over his chest in mock pain. “And here we thought you were our best friend.”
“Looking a little more grungy than usual Black,” Fred added as he crossed his arms.
She rolled her eyes and rushed forward. Her hair turned yellow as she grasped Fred in a hug. Her arms wrapped around his neck as he spun her around before setting her down. She then turned and gave George one. She rested her head on his shoulder. She felt butterflies form in her chest.
"Didn’t get in too much trouble without me did you?" She asked as he finally set her down.
"Us?" They looked at each other and then at her. "Never."
