"Plans for after-school lunch?" Charlie asked them during breakfast.

"Whatever's fine," Bella answered. "I mean, I think we still have leftover lasagna if we wanna finish that."

"I've got lacrosse practice today. I can pick up a pizza or something on my way home." Stiles offered.

"Oh, you excited to be part of the team?" Charlie asked. He wanted to help indulge more of the normalness Stiles was doing as he promised Noah. He still felt like there was a lot more to Stiles' story that neither Noah nor Stiles weren't telling him. He respected their privacy but he was still curious. But until then, he was doing his best to be that supportive parent.

"Yeah," Stiles admitted with a sheepish smile. He really was excited to see how he compared to other players when everyone else on the team was human and didn't have enhanced abilities. It was something his ego needed.

"Any idea when your first game will be? I bet your dad will love to make it out here for it." Charlie said.

"Not yet but soon I think. Dad's very eager to be here and watch me play once he learned I made the team." Stiles told them. And much like Stiles, he thinks his dad is eager to see him play on a safe, human-played level, where they get to celebrate whatever outcome at some chain-restaurant place and not in the hospital or on the search for missing players. "So he wants to know with enough time so he can get time off work."

"Well, we'll be there too. I've already bought a poster board to decorate with your name and number." Bella said. "Well, nickname since you won't tell me what your real name is."

"I have. I've told you it's a monstrosity and you won't ever hear me utter it." Stiles said with a serious expression.

Bella rolled her eyes before looking at the time, "We should get going if we don't want to be late."

"You guys have a good day. I'll ring here or your cells if anything comes up that holds me at the station." Charlie told them.

Stiles still felt weird at how...normal his new routine was becoming. If he didn't know better himself, he would think he was visiting a blood relative and Charlie was his real uncle and Bella his cousin, who were hosting him.

Another weird but good thing was that the things that usually held Charlie up at work didn't have to do with maulings or strange and bloody disappearances. They usually were just teenage shenanigans that he and his deputies had to clean up, and Charlie would have his 'disappointed father/sheriff talk' with the kid's parent(s). All while he was aware that there were supernatural beings living in the town. So weird yet...this was his new normal. And it was a level of normal!

"We'll bring you a slice in case anything does," Bella promised.

Charlie kissed the top of her forehead as she passed by him, "Good girl."

"Ugh, dad..." Bella faked irritation but Stiles saw her smile slightly.

He knew that Bella and her dad weren't as close as he and his dad were. Or at least as close as they are at the moment, now that his father knew about all the supernatural elements he was going through. Stiles wanted to help since his relationship with his dad meant everything to him, but he also realized he and Bella were in different boats.

She was the child of divorced parents. Her mother was alive and nice and it was just a matter of...' grown-up' stuff. Human grown-up stuff. The awkwardness that happened around Bella and Charlie didn't have much to do with Bella keeping secrets of lethal proportions but just...her becoming a young adult away from Charlie, so he had zero ideas of what she was into now. He likes to think he's doing a good job buffering the difference and awkwardness between them.
