Chapter 31: The Lake

Friday Week 8
Cindy's POV
Time's going by so fast! It's crazy! I still can't believe Akira's leaving. She's been a day 1 student until now! In my friend group, Arthur's the one most hung up about it. Akira is his girlfriend after all. He won't get to see her as much. Speaking of my friends and I, we're all looking out at a lake. Among the garden fence. "Should we check it out?" Arthur asks. "No way! We'll get in trouble!" Artemis says. "Why?" Blueberry asks. I best back her up. "We'll get in trouble going to the lake and for escaping school." I say. "But we're not 'escaping' we'll just be having a look." Mishka says. "Doesn't matter the excuse, sorry, my friend." Artemis says. Esmerelda, Jack, Millie, Nancy and Pearl come over to us. They see. The lake too. "Woah, how come I've never seen that lake before?" Esmerelda stares in awe. "I want to swim in it!" Jack exclaims jumping up and down. "Let's go check it out!" Millie says. "No, Millie. You'll get in trouble." Nancy says. "It'll be fine." She reassures. Millie climbs over the fence. "Millie! What on earth are you doing?" Pearl says flabbergasted to her. "Checking out the lake!" She says. "No Millie! Don't!" Artemis says. Millie runs over to the lake, which isn't as far away as we thought. She runs in and jumps. That was a bit stupid. "Why did she just jump?" Arthur asks. "She's a dog. Strange creatures." Blueberry says. "Hey!" All the dogs around says (aka, Artemis, me, Mishka, Jack and Nancy). Blueberry giggles. "Just kidding! Got you all!" She said. Esmeralda smiles sheepishly, she thought it was funny too. "Should we do something about Millie?" I ask. Jack starts to climb over. "Jack, what are you doing?" Mishka asks him. "Checking out the lake with Millie!" He says. "No you're not checking it out!" Nancy orders him, Jack doesn't listen and runs over to the lake with Millie. They're having the funnest time. "We need to get them. Who's coming with me?" Pearl asks us. "Me!" We all say. We all start to climb the fence. "Wait what about Mishka? She can't come because of her wheels." Artemis says. "It's fine, guys go without me." She says. Arthur climbs back over to Mishka. "I'll stay with her, don't worry." Arthur's a great friend. The rest of us run over to Jack and Millie. "Guys let's go! We'll get in big trouble!" Blueberry tells them. "Just join us! You know you want to!" Jack winks. The lake is beautiful. But it's in the middle of grass. With some rocks and plants surrounding. It's fishy. And strange. "Alright let's go." I say.

Arthur's POV
The popular girls and their dogs come over. "What are they doing?" Amber asks. "None of your business." I say sternly. "Hey! They're not meant to be over there!" Delilah exclaims. "Keep your voice down!" Mishka whispers loudly to her. "We should snitch on them! They'll be in big trouble!" Glitter smirks. They run to the teacher on duty, Miss Cleo. "We should stop them?" I ask Mishka. "GUYS GUYS GUYS!" Mishka shouts out to them. "YEAH?!" Esmeralda shouts back. They all look at Mishka. She points out the girls telling Miss Cleo. "MOVE! MOVE MOVE!" Jack jumps out of the pool. They all start running towards us.  Miss Cleo rushes over. She gasps. "ARTEMIS, BLUEBERRY, CINDY, ESMERALDA, JACK, MILLIE, NANCY AND PEARL, COME HERE RIGHT NOW!" Miss Cleo yells. They all run back and climb over the fence. "What on earth were you doing out there?!" Miss Cleo says really angry. I've never seen her this angry. "We were trying to get Jack and Millie to come back." Nancy starts off. They all explain everything. Miss Cleo sighs. "Listen, some of you did a good thing but next time you should get a teacher. Jack and Millie, please go to VPF's office and the rest of you, 10 minute detention after school." Miss Cleo seemed tired. "Great. They've scored us detention." Pearl says after Jack and Millie go inside. "It was actually Aina, Amber, Delilah, Glitter and Layla though." Artemis says. They walk over as soon as they're summoned. "Ha! Look at that! Trouble trouble trouble!" Aina cackles. "My own sister in detention hahahaha!" Amber cackles along. Pearl rolls her eyes. "Oh get a life Amber." She pushes past her with Esmeralda and Nancy. Bad move Pearl. She'll get revenge. Wonder what'll happen to Jack and Millie? Hope they'll get alright.
