"It’s just a stray thought," she mused.

Yet, because of this stray thought, she found herself lost in it until dawn...

As morning broke, Cangyu Sect was more vibrant than ever. At the crack of dawn, the surroundings were already buzzing with activity. The outer disciples were all ready and eager, full of anticipation for the upcoming challenge.

This time, the Grand Immortal Sect Gathering was a chance for them to make a name for themselves before everyone.

According to the rules, all defending disciples had to participate, engaging in battles with various sects. Though it was said to be a trial, it was essentially a war of attrition, wearing down the fifty chosen from other sects through continuous battles.

The first round was a chaotic melee, with each group consisting of a hundred participants, eliminating more than half directly.

Disciples from the other nine great sects were scattered among them, facing the Cangyu Sect members like sheep among wolves. This tradition had persisted for about a century, irrespective of which sect was defending.

Ye Wenxin was naturally among the Cangyu Sect members. She noticed the grand figures of the sect leaders seated on the high platform and recognized the presence of Ling Jue, Long Qingyue, and Xiao Zhang, but Fairy Feng Ya was conspicuously absent.

Recalling Feng Ya's words about lacking reverence, Ye Wenxin thought that Feng Ya was not much different from herself.

A martial fanatic equally lacking in reverence, despite this grand event of the sect, the number one beauty on the list had no intention of showing up.

Noticing the displeased expressions of the Cangyu Sect elders, Ye Wenxin realized that Fairy Feng Ya must have hidden herself away again. Her cultivation was undoubtedly the highest in the sect, and whatever concealment technique she employed was beyond Ye Wenxin’s ability to detect. Perhaps only Dark Eyes could skillfully locate the elusive Fairy Feng Ya.

Thinking of Dark Eyes, Ye Wenxin scanned her surroundings again, but saw no sign of the sneaky thief in the shadows.

"What are you looking at?"

"Looking for a friend." The familiar voice beside her prompted a casual reply. Yet as soon as she spoke, she realized the voice was very familiar.

Turning quickly, Ye Wenxin found herself face to face with Dark Eyes, whom she hadn't seen in a while. With her black hair and black eyes, she was wearing the attire of the Beast Taming Garden, looking every bit like a rebellious disciple who had left her ancestral sect.

"Dark Eyes, have you switched sects?" Ye Wenxin forced a smile, her thoughts of missing Dark Eyes evaporating instantly. She had known that this little troublemaker wouldn't stay quiet, but she hadn't expected her to appear in such a manner.

"No, I just threw this on in passing. Since someone saw me with you before, I had to play the part," Dark Eyes yawned lazily, snuggling up to Ye Wenxin.

Instantly, Ye Wenxin felt a chill directed at them from the platform.

"Strange, why do I sense killing intent?" Dark Eyes jumped back, confused as to why her proximity to Ye Wenxin had brought danger.
