Maddie's Pov:
"Derry, Derry, and Derry." I thought to myself while our teacher was discussing something.
"Who am I?" You may ask. Well, my name is Madeline Hanlon, or else you could call me Maddie. I am a thirteen year old shy, quiet girl out of all the students of Derry High. And some kids bully me for being black, which was highly inappropriate. I feel proud of myself for being me. Anyways, I live in the outskirts of Derry in which there was a farm. It belonged to my grandpa. I lived with him and my older twin brother Mike. I was born one minute after Mike. My parents died on a fire accident when Mike and I were very young. So our grandpa took us in, and since then, we were happy. Mike had to be homeschooled, which was lucky for him...meanwhile me on the other hand, get bullied by kids like Greta Keene or the Bowers Gang or somethin' like that. But, hey, it's very cool.[Bell Rings]
"Yes!!! Finally! Now summer is officially here!" I smiled to myself as I was walking down the hallway[a/n: i almost wrote aisle instead of hallway....lol🤣🤣]
While I was walking, I overheard a conversation between three boys.
"So there's like, this church full of jews, right?" said a voice. "And Stan has to take this super jewy test."
"So how does it work?" Another voice said.
"They slice the tip of his nuts off."
I cringed while listening to them. Then suddenly I saw a familiar figure walking towards them. It was...Stanley Uris? What is he doing here? And I'm not gonna lie, I have the biggest crush on him. Like, much bigger but I'm afraid of admitting it. As soon as we were going down, I felt someone staring down at me and smirking. Great. Henry Fecking Bowers and his Jackson Five wannabe goons. I thought to myself and gulped. I was following the boys until someone collided with me. Greta Snotty Keene. I followed her sneakily to the girls bathroom when I spied on her kicking a stall door."Are you in there by yourself Bea-verly? Or do you have the half of the guys in the school with you, huh slvt?"
"I know you're hiding there, i could smell you , you little shet!."
I was fumed by this and then stood out confidently.
"Hey! Leave her alone! At least give her some privacy and space, unlike you, always putting your dirty nose in the wrong business." I told her, sternly.
Greta looked at me in the eye, then rolled her eyes.
"If you rolled your eyes like that, you might find your brain there." I said, smirking. Her minions stood there, snickering. She looked furious that she pushed me to the wall and pinned me there.
"Listen here, Hanlon. Stop trying to pretend you're confident when you know you're not. You were a shy, quiet and ugly girl, and you will always will be." She spat out. I quickly grabbed her by the wrist, twisted it and stepped on her foot using the sole of my black sneakers.
"Call me those things again, and I swear you will meet my wrath." I said, glaring. She scoffed and called her minions.
"Have a nice summer Bea-verly!" She called out, sarcastically.
"And don't think I forgot about you, Hanlon."
They walked out.Beverly Marsh, a girl who's in the same grade as me, was inside, with liquid trash on her bag. I felt bad for her.
"Hey." I greeted.
"Oh. It's you. Madeline Hanlon, right?" She asked.
"Yeah. It's me." I replied.
"I'm Bever-" she said but i cut her off.
"Beverly Marsh." I finished.
"Thanks for saving me back there." She said.
"Oh. You're welcome." I smiled.
"First time seeing you so angry." She told me.
"Oh, that? Trust me, it's more deadly." I joked. We laughed.
"Ok, i'll see you somewhere." I stood up and took my leave.
