PROLOGUE

IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR WILD CHASE AND MIRACULOUS escapes, we finally reached the highest floor of the city's highest skyscraper where a helicopter lays that we could use to flee from these marauding terrorists. As the elevator door opens, I ready myself to leap for our lives. To jump onto that vehicle and rose to the sky where we'll be far away from this nightmare.

My hope melted as I realized that the elevator did not reach the rooftop. We're inside of another Mafia meeting hall. I looked around and found no one was in the room. Just then, I heard footsteps rising from the door in my right. And with a heartbeat, I shove Nathan to one of the drawers by the corner and tell him to stay quiet. I hid below the desk beside him.

A huge number of Mafia members entered. Most of them are covered in tattoos and piercings. Only one caught my eye with its clean features. He does not wear any of those terrifying things, but he sure has a petrifying aura in his eyes. One of his subjects called him Mr. Azuki, so I presume that is his name. Azuki. So soft for a Mafia boss.

The meeting began and I can hear everything they are talking about. Including plans of assassinations, stealing, black mailing, kidnapping -and one that tickled my spine- the hunt for Nathan and his gold.

Azukifellow sat by the desk where I was hovering over. His shoes accidentally touched mine and my eyes widened and I felt that the hair all over my body was rising . Then my heart pumps rapidly like it will burst any second. But as long as Nathan is safe, that would be fine. I said to myself.

He was not alarmed or rather maybe he did not feel it a bit. Maybe he did not notice it.

The meeting continues and I listen to every word and detail they speak. After quite a while, he called a  dismissal and all of them descends from the stairs to the lower floor. I listened to the surroundings to ensure that everyone had left the room. There were no shadows nor sounds of breathing so i am sure we're alone now.

I slipped away from the desk and took Nathan out of the closet. But his looks scared me as they showed an eerie expression. Like a gasp. A silent gasp whilst staring at my back. I turned to see but what I witnessed scared me to death.

Azuki, the cold leader of the meeting, stood, with his hands on his pockets. Eyes glaring at me, like a hawk sighting its prey. I glanced at the door by his right, "exit" it spells.

"Who are you? May I know the reason for your sudden entrance into this establishment?" He says. Quite polite and formal for a gangster, I must say.

"I am-Le-Lea… Leah. My name is Leah. And this is my little brother, Nick." I stammer. "We were just taking a walk outside of this building and an ashtray dog chased us and we ended up here."

"Up here? On the highest floor? Why would you ride an elevator after passing through the sliding door when a dog did not know how to open it. It is strange, is it not?" He quirrel.

What sort of words and accent is that? Is he from the past or something? I say to myself.

Something in his pocket vibrated. He picked it up. T'was his phone. His voice was barely audible but as he answered the call, he kept on glancing at me. I step back holding Nathan's chest while his small fingers wrapped around my wrist. He ended the call and pulled out a gun from behind and pointed it towards me.

"Leah. Or should I say, Leannemae. You might have to come with me. There is something I need to discuss with you and that child behind your rare end."

With the tone of his voice, a warning has been sent. "RUN" it says. So I put Nathan at my back, leap towards him, smashing his weapon away  and storm through the exit. I can hear him screaming commands and swears as he follows my path.

As I ran down the corridor I saw a stairway leading to the roof. I started towards it and there, a helicopter, pristine and shiny. Well modeled. We climbed and I sat Nathan at the back with a seat belt on. I twisted the key to start the engine and ride to the endless sky.

Nathan is so happy I can hear him screaming in joy behind me as he look at the ant-like men yelling at the spot where we took off.
