Weeks after weeks I have been waiting for the new release of the last book of the trilogy. I let out a soft gasp as soon I released the clicker of the mouse reloading the book store web page. "Finally." I whispered mostly to myself.
I picked up my bag whooshing out the house ignoring my mother's plea for me to not skip dinner but this was too important to me. It was cold almost the middle of December as chills created goosebumps along side my arms.
As soon as I parked the car in the parking lot beside the store; I gave myself a little pep talk. "It's okay just in and out, just get the book, pay, and leave." I hummed in satisfaction and finally had the courage to leave the car.
The bookstore was rather full this time of year where parents, relative or even friends tried to find the best gifts for their loved ones. I almost squirm as people brushed against me and I can almost feel their gazes on me. Judging me. However all of that left out the windows when I saw the book I came for neatly piled against all the other books almost calling for my name.
I hesitantly grabbed the book almost scared I was dreaming all of this but it didn't seem as a dream as I was rummaging the pages. 500 pages in total almost too little for me but that thought escaped me a little too fast as I was ecstated to hold the only thing I waited for since I finished the last book.
As soon as I reached home I see my mom with her hands crossed standing on the door way. "Where did you go?" She questioned almost immediately. I waved the book, "to get this." I said in almost a 'duh' voice. She rolled her eyes, "finish your dinner me and you need to have a talk." I groaned as I walked into the kitchen reaching for plates and utensil. "Just say them now if it's important." I said as I grab the remaining food from the pot and onto plate bringing it to the table.
"I've decided that since you have grown it was time I leave." The spoon I was holding just fell onto the plate. "Listen." She said before I could get any words out. "Before you say anything I thought I should go, I just got a call from an agency in Australia." Another country? "Your grown you should be able to take care of your own."
I've always envied stories of people that had parents that loved and did everything in their power to make sure they were safe. I've envied it so much that my room was surrounded with books I could get lost in and live in the main character point of view and see things from their eyes.
Love, protection, and attention was something I could never have in this life. A tear left my eyes and soon I was bawling as I saw my mom shadow only lingering then it was gone.
