This night was a mess.
I knew it the second I looked into Joey's black, lifeless eyes.
He'd obviously gone off into the bathroom to snort god knows what.

He couldn't stand still for a minute and was practically buzzing with energy.

"What's he jacked up on?" Casey asked, sitting next to me in the corner of Biddies lounge. "Jesus, Gabs, he's wired to NASA."

"Yeah, I know," I swallowed hard, watching him down shot after shot and laughing like a maniac.

He looked so different tonight. He barely resembled the Joey from last week that was cuddled up to me in bed.

"Do you want to leave?" Aoife offered from the other side of me, "We can have a girls night at my place."

"Yeah, I'm down with that," Casey agreed, nudging my side.

"I can't," I shook my head, my eyes refusing to leave Joey.

"You can't control him, Gabs," Casey shook her head, "He's his own person. Joey Lynch is going to do what he's going to do, regardless of the consequences."

"I'm not trying to control him," I replied, "I want to help him. I want him to get better."

"Only he can do that, babe," Aoife frowned, "You can want that but it won't make him stop."

I know.

And just like that the night was ruined.
Joey and a group of boys had all flipped out and jumped over the wall of the outdoor smoking area.

I was tipsy—not yet drunk—and stumbling through a crowd of people to chase after my boyfriend.

"Joey!" I called out feeling my heart beating erratically.

"Gabby, just leave him," Casey called after me.

But I didn't stop.
I couldn't.

He had stolen my heart and I was like a dog on a leash for him. I'd follow him anywhere, no matter how much trouble it brought me.

"Joey!" I screamed, running across the street, "What are you doing?"

I stopped in my tracks when my eyes met him, standing on the bonnet of a Mercedes Benz, and then to my dismay he rammed his fists into the windscreen.

"Oh my god, Joey!" I screamed again, watching his fists bleed as the glass tore into his skin.

His stupid friends were watching and encouraging him. They looked delighted.

"Joey, stop!" I screamed, running over to his, "You're going to get arrested."

Joey laughed, the drugs obviously doing wonders to drown out the severity of this situation, as he continued punching the car.
