I rubbed the symbol on my dagger, 'エ', which means Earth.
I hung my dagger on my belt and sighed.
No writing inspiration. Not even the delicious Monja could motivate me.
Ugh.
I closed my eyes.
Nope, nothing.
The carriage jolted. My eyes flew open. Two demonic looking vultures were swooped down and sending bursts of wind towards the carriage.
"Do something!" Kane yelled.
I nodded and faced the vultures. I stood on the edge of the carriage and took my dagger into hands. They swooped down again. I raised the dagger above my head and slammed it down on the bird with as much force as I could. When I lifted the dagger, it felt heavy.
My small dagger turned into double swords.
I laughed.
This is really fricking awesome.
I slashed at the other vulture and it disintegrated at the touch of my blade.
I sat back down and looked at Kane.
"Was that awesome or what?" I laughed.
"Elder Gaeariah turned into double swords. It can also turn into metal claws, a silver gun, or an ax." Haru said.
"What?! Really? That's so cool!" I smiled. "Wait... So this dagger is called Elder Gaeariah?" I asked.
"Yes." Kane answered.
"Wow." I said.
I examined the blades closer.
The handles were black with silver. The blade itself was a dark forest green with the same symbol, エ, engraved near the handle in silver. Pretty simple design, but wicked all the same.
I looked at the road. We were traveling on a dirt path with tall green grass growing on the sides. There were hills and valleys and mountains all around. It was a hot day, it was rather breezy. I guess it's always pretty breezy in the Wind Kingdom.
"Kane, I forgot to ask. How's Sarah?" Haru asked.
Kane suddenly grabbed Haru's hair and pulled it so Haru faced him.
"Never speak her name again." Kane said with a dangerous tone in his voice. He let go of Haru and sat back down.
"Kane! What the hell? Look, you might be angry or sad about Sarah but that doesn't mean you get the right to hurt others because you are! And if you do that, you're no better than what Katherine and Gina said you were, a cursed monster!" I yelled at him as I hopped in the drivers seat next to Haru and pulled the horse to a stop.
I grabbed Haru's face in my hands and examined him, looking for any damage. He had a bit of a nose bleed. I took one of the cloths off of my arm and wiped his nose.
"Are you in pain?"I asked.
"Naw. Kane always does this. Sometimes he would break my leg or arm if he got too angry about Sarah." Haru smiled sweetly.
I turned back to Kane.
"You have fallen apart over Sarah. Now build yourself back together. I thought our duty as Mages was to protect innocent people from monsters and demons. But you let me down." I said. Haru leaned forward and placed this head on my chest.
"I have a headache now." He groaned.
I combed and played with his hair until he fell asleep. Then I moved him to the back and covered him with a sheet.
