Delias POV
"You know smoking is horrible for you" a male voice said from behind me. I swung my head around to see who the voice was. My eyes landed on a tall, brunette, sun kissed guy, about my age. I rolled my eyes at him, not really caring about what he, a stranger, thinks. I needed the release, I haven't felt relaxed in weeks.
"Wow, rolling your eyes at me? Sassy little thing aren't you" he says, walking in front of my view of the ocean waves crashing on the sand. It was a Sunday night in Cape Cod, end of June. One of my favorite things to do was to grab my speaker, my beach chair, and watch the sun set. I was very peaceful until this stranger decided to share his opinions with me.
"Do you have a name little sas?" He smirked. He was cute, I'm not going to deny, but there's no way he would ever like someone like me. He would probably fall for my twin sister, CC, just like very single guy does. Ignore me and go straight for the gold, CC. Don't get me wrong I love her with the all my heart but enough is enough sometimes.
"Why do you wanna know" I inhaled a puff, holding it in and slowly releasing it into the air. "Just curious" he shrugged. I rolled my eyes once more and leaned over my chair, clicking the power button on my speaker. I scrolled through my playlist, ignoring the man in front of me. I clicked on 'Cleopatra' by the Lumineers, and hummed the melody. "Mmm, interesting song choice, I like it" he said, sitting down on the sand right next to my chair.
"Last time I checked I didn't invite you to sit with me" I bravely sassed. I usually kept quiet and to myself, but something about this boy made me feel weirdly comfortable. "I'm just keeping a poor lonely girl some company" he explained, looking up at me.
His eyes were sky, sea salt, blue. They reminded me of a dress my mother gave me when I was little. "I actually enjoy being alone, so if you could please-" I said before getting cut off by a yell. "RICKY DINNERS READY! COME IN!" A voice yelled from a house. He huffed, not getting up. "Well I gotta go, but before I do, I would love a name" He said standing up and shaking the sand off his legs.
"Hasn't your mom ever told you to not talk to strangers?" I asked, in a harsh tone. "Well we're technically not strangers, cause you know my name" "no I don't" I was quick to say. "Broderick, but everyone calls me Ricky. Now you do" he said, picking up his sunglasses and sliding them on his face. "The suns going down, why the sunglasses?" I said, trying to bring up anything but telling him my name.
"BRODERICK, DINNERS GETTING COLD!" The voice yelled again. "I'll see you later little sas!" He smiled and jogged off. Gosh I hope I don't 'see him later'.
Rickeys POV
I stepped inside my cousins house, roughly wiping off the sand on my feet, with the towel placed next to the patio door. Me and my family had just arrived at our cousins house for the summer. We usually come down for a day or two in the summer but since our house is getting construction done on it, we needed a place to stay for the whole summer.
We lived far away from the beach so the first thing I do when I get here, other than say hi to everyone, is step on the sand. I was just doing my usual tradition when I saw a brunette around my age, sitting in a beach chair. Noisy, curious me, I had to go over. She seemed to not like me though, which is weird, girls in my town are practically drooling over me. Not to be all cocky.
She was beautiful. Her eyes were an electric blue, sun kissed skin, perfect teeth, and the cutest freckles. I wish I had gotten her name. My cousin Jamie threw me out of my thoughts when she tapped me on my shoulder. "Day dreaming?" She teased. I rolled my eyes and grabbed a plate from the counter. Filling it up with stake, fruit, chicken, and some of my aunts famous side pasta.
"So whats your guys plan for tomorrow? Gonna introduce Ricky to all your friends, I hope" my uncle chuckled from the head of the table. "Of course dad" Jamie smiled sarcastically. "Ricky has already met Luke and Garrett so there's not much more" She shrugged. I met Luke and Garrett last year, we got along great, and quickly became good friends.
"Ricky needs to meet Delia" my younger cousin, Jamie's brother, said in a singy song voice. "Oh ya! You guys would get along great!" Jamie agreed. "She's right, you two would look adorable together" my aunt chimed in. "Who's Delia?" I asked, "my best friend, she lives right next door" Jamie explained. I nodded and stabbed a piece of stake with my fork. Hopefully I will run into that girl again tomorrow. And hopefully get her name this time.
