"Joong, you wanna try baking?"
Hongjoong's face tilts up almost instantly.
"You guide me?"
The gleam of surprise in his eyes makes a smile crack upon Hyemi's face. It's the first time his expression changes ever since he sits himself on the chair beside the kitchen island, thumb's been scrolling through his dull newsfeed out of boredom.
"Sorry to break it to you, but how can you manage without me huh?"
Hyemi, who doesn't mean to be subtle in hiding her taunt, reaches for a chopping board and a knife.
He watches those things that she places before him then looks back up at her, protesting. "Didn't you just ask a newbie to bake for the first time?"
"Will you help me or not?"
Since the exhibition became a success which brought the company's name appealed to the media and potential partners, everyone who took part in the project was granted a day off from work as a reward. Hongjoong decides to spend this off day resting completely and simply easing in the domestic air of his home.
"Tell me what to do, teacher."
"Now help me chop the chocolate then put in a clean bowl, like this." With the demeanour of a future baker, Hyemi picks a knife up with one of the unwrapped chocolate bars to demonstrate the task.
He takes the knife from her and follows along, feeling fascinated to try the new thing, as always. However, this time is utterly different. It's about them being together as a couple for the first time.
His enjoyment must have known him so well. The corners of his mouth refuse to stop curling upwards. He glances over to see Hyemi going to make hot coffee, literally unaware of his observant eyes that follow her every move in the kitchen.

"What do I have to do next?"
"Have you added the hot coffee?" Hyemi looks up at an enthusiastic Hongjoong, who wants to do the next step so much. "And whisked until smooth?"
"Done!" He shows her the mixture of chocolate and coffee in the bowl.
She stops herself from cracking the egg in hand, checking the result with a slight furrow of her brows.
"It's not smooth enough. You gotta whisk a bit longer."
"Really??? I've been doing it so long, to the point my hand's hurt."
"Yes, for the good outcome. Because we're going to add a lot of things in the process to your coffee chocolate," Hyemi states firmly, sparing him one last glance before focusing on her task at hand. She's already finished beating butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar.
