Juggling Responsibilities

A week had passed since the twins, Joey and Max, were born, and the Stark Tower was still buzzing with excitement. The family had adjusted to their new rhythm, filled with joy, laughter, and the occasional baby cry that echoed through the halls. But as much as Peter cherished every moment with his newborn sons and MJ, there was one thing he couldn’t escape: college was calling.

He stood in the living room of Stark Tower, holding Max in his arms, while MJ fed Joey on the couch. His heart ached at the thought of leaving them, even for a few hours.

“I don’t want to go,” Peter muttered, gently rocking Max. “They’re so small, MJ. What if they need me?”

MJ looked up, her expression soft but firm. “You’re not abandoning us, Peter. College is important too. You’ve worked hard for this. And your dads are right. You can’t stay here forever.”

Peter sighed, his gaze lingering on Joey as he let out a soft coo. He couldn’t help but feel guilty. The thought of leaving his sons in Tony and Steve’s care, even though they were more than capable, felt wrong. But MJ was right; his responsibilities were calling him back.

Tony and Steve entered the room, both looking as if they had just come from a meeting. Steve placed a hand on Peter’s shoulder. “Pete, we’ve talked about this. It’s time for you to go back to school. We’ll take care of the twins. We’ve got everything covered.”

Tony nodded. “I’ve got a lab full of projects to finish, and Steve here—well, he’s basically a professional dad now, so I think you’re in good hands.”

Peter gave them both a skeptical look but knew they were right. His dads were incredibly capable and loved his sons as much as he did. He just hated the thought of leaving them, even if it was just for a few hours.

With a deep breath, he kissed MJ’s forehead. “I’ll come straight back after class. I promise.”

“You better,” MJ teased with a soft smile, her eyes filled with understanding. “You’ve got this. Go. We’ll be fine.”

Harley, Morgan, Ned, and Wade, who had been sitting nearby, all nodded in agreement. “You’re gonna do great, man,” Harley said with a thumbs up. “Besides, you’re going to miss all the fun of college. And we’ll be there to keep you from losing your mind.”

Morgan grinned. “Yeah, and if you don’t hurry up, Wade will eat all your snacks again.”

Wade gave her a playful scowl. “Hey, I’m just helping. Someone’s got to keep things interesting.”

Peter laughed, feeling the weight on his shoulders ease just a little. He looked at the twins one more time, his heart full. “Okay. I’ll go, but only because you guys are here.”

As Peter made his way to the car with Harley, Morgan, Ned, and Wade, the reality of returning to college hit him. It wasn’t just the classes; it was being around other people again, away from the peaceful chaos of his home. He could already imagine the questions people would ask, but what he didn’t expect was how quickly news of his fatherhood had spread—at least, among the teachers and the principal.

At the college, things were different. The moment Peter stepped into the halls, he could sense the glances and whispers. But no one said anything out loud—not in front of the students. It wasn’t until the bell rang for the first class that Peter was called into the principal’s office.

“Peter Parker, to the principal’s office,” the loudspeaker announced.

Peter sighed, glancing at Harley, Morgan, Ned, and Wade. “Here we go,” he muttered.
