Chapter 3: Afraid

Nyra's POV:

I went to shadow who was stirring awake. I walk to her with my food and sit in front of her. "It's okay. We're safe here. We are with my family. Well the family I once knew." I tell her. She gurnts in pain. She opens her eyes and looks at me. She roars softly and I slide one of my pancakes forward. The others came to see her to. They watched as I slide it forward. I roar softly and she answered. We continued communicate that way. "You guys have an amazing why of communicating!" Nightshade praised. I click my tongue in a soft chrip. Shadow picked the pancake up and therw it up slightly before catching it in her jaws. She purrs softly and I give her another. She eats but I knew it wasn't enough. I click softly asking if she could get up. She stands on her legs but weakly. She grunts but I send her reassurance. I led her outside and she dropped down near the house. Some the others do their own thing and I look at shadow. I have her the rest of my food and then more of what was left. She roars softly and I click my tongue softly. I soon laid against her as she rested. I didn't move a muscle while laying there. Later even as things got crazy I didn't move. Later dinner came. Dottie came to me. "Are you coming to eat?" Dottie asks. I clicked at her softly before turning my head away. I close my eyes and press my head into shadows more. They tried to get me to eat as I hadn't eaten in 7 weeks. I had refused to move. Soon after getting annoyed I growled. They left me alone but still checked on me. I nestled into shadow again. Soon Dottie and Alex came to check on me. "Hey ny you okay? You know you need to eat." Alex says softly. "Shadow needs me. Puls once shadow gets stronger we're going out hunting. And if I need to I'll go hunting by myself." I say. "Hunting? Nyra we always make food." Alex says. "It's enough for me as I'm smaller and can eat a lot more things. Shadow needs raw meat to keep her teeth filed down. My are sharp but aren't growing anymore." I say. They let me be and went to bed. I fell asleep not to long after but woke up to something. It was still early but near breakfast time. "Hey ny, I didn't wake you did I?" Alex asks. "No.." I say. I got up from shadow and growled loudly. Soon I hear something. "Nyra what's wrong honey?" Dottie asks. "Its nothing." I say. I walk back and sit by shadow. The others woke and ate. I walked closer to where Alex and bee were. I watch the others play. I step forward but then step back. "You can go play to nyra." Alex says. I hesitate before letting out a soft hiss and walking next to him. I curl up next to him. My head resting near his hand. I felt safe with them even tho it's only the one day. He reached out and gently runs his hand though my hair. At first I tensed and let out a low growl. I stopped and relaxed at his touch. I pushed my head upward into his touch with a soft purr. Later a explosion happened. "Nightshade!" The others yell. My head whipped up and before anything can be done I jump up and take off running. I was fast. I made it to the barn before the others. They had built a base for everyone underneath the barn. I run in and call for nightshade. I felt distressed but had no clue why. The others came and were worried to. It turns out they were working on a smart trainer. Now they were going to work on another. The others wanted them to come play but nightshade wanted them to come join them to help make it. But the others left. Nightshade seemed sad. Alex and Dottie comforted them tho. I walk over and rub against their legs with a soft low melodic purr.

Alex gave nightshade a book and after they left he went to reading it. I had trouble reading so I was hoping I wouldn't have to. As they got settled I went and curled up at their side laying part of my body on his arm. They read the book with it high up. Most of it they read out loud. I then move as nightshade got up. He wanted to make the author and I made a low bellow. They went outside and I followed with. They then asked hashtag and she gave him the answer. I went to check on shadow but she still wasn't wake. I purr softly at her before going to go with nightshade only to see them gone. I look around before slipping into the forest. Shadow needs food for herself to. I look around before finding a herd of deer. I stock down low to a fawn and as it gets closer I lunge. It makes it scream call and others run. It trys to but I force it away from the herd. It bucks me off its back and I get a hoof to the arm. I jumped right back on tho. I soon use my shaper nails to cut the neck of the creature. I start to drag it back to the house. It was heavy and I was on all four pulling it by my mouth like a predator would. As I get in the tree line I hear the others working on something and then I hear Alex call out my name thinking I was with shadow again. I wasn't. I mimic roar and they look to where I am. "Nyra are you okay! There's blood on your face!" Alex says. Soon him and Dottie were coming towards me. But I needed to get this to shadow.

I lower my head back down and start to drag the dead deer again. When they see what I have I knew they found it disgusting but I didn't care I pull back again and again over and over to get it to shadow. "Nyra how'd you do that baby?" Dottie asks. I pull more and more before pulling up my head releasing the deer. "Shadow needs food." I say simply before diging my teeth back into its neck and pulling it towards shadow. Once I had it close enough I woke her. She looks at me and I pull the deer in front of me. I roar softly and she roars softly in return. She takes a big bite of it. She then looked at me and clicked softly. "Your face is covered in blood." She laughs though our bond. I lick around my mouth and then lick my hands to clean it. She lets out a soft noise and I chrip happily. She lays her head down. I knew it wasn't enough to fill her but I also couldn't go hunting and drag the food back here. And she couldn't do it herself. Nightshade then came back. I watch as they were trying to hide it but comes up that they were trying to fix the smart trainer. Although nightshade was happy, took it, and ran off. I tilt my head slightly. I look back at shadow then the forest. "Ny, don't do that again please. You scared us there. " Dottie says. I hiss slightly before looking back at shadow. I click softly at her. I get back up and go back to the forest. Dottie and Alex call out to me but I don't listen. I run farther and soon find a river. I look inside the water and see the fish moving. I click my tongue happily. I wait patiently and then pounce taking a few fish up with me. I return to shadow dropping down the fish to her.  She looks at me and roars softly. I click in return. I cuddle into her side as I thought it would be enough food. Shadow ate and went back to resting. Later shadow was moved into the base and I went to her. Later when It came time for dinner I looked at shadow. She roars softly and I run off. I jump up on the the surface that was the bottom of where the house folded up and down. I make a soft chrr sound of greeting before I sit. They smile at me and we start to eat. I continue to eat until I heard a twig snap form the trees. I growl as my head whips around. The others look at me with some worry. "Nyra?" Alex asks. My head rises high with a snarl. Soon it came out. I stood down as I realized it was nightshade."hey nightshade." I say. Nightshade smiled at us and then joined us. Later I was cuddled into shadows side. Her chest slowly rising and falling. Her tail gently flicked and her wings twitched very softly. Baggages were wrapped around her making me whine softly. Later I heard screams. I rise my head and left shadows side. I ran out and seen Dottie and Alex being taken away. I roar and chase after them. I got in his lab and I walked closer to the bot. But I pause. "Spider legs?" I ask. "Nyra?" Tarantulas asks. "Tarantulas why are you doing this!?" Nightshade asks bursting in. I jump and screech. Tarantulas began to explain. I didn't attack him like I would have if you mostly anyone else. But he hired me for a job a while back. We had become injured getting his parts and he told us that if it was going to risk us getting hurt we should have aborted. He then made us rest and brought us food from the forest. I click at him and tilt my head. Soon we fought I hiss at him and quickly try to get Dottie and Alex out of his webs. Soon as we were outside he came after us. He tangled nightshade in his webs and he came closer to me. I roar at him and back away. "Sorry nyra." Tarantulas says before traping me in his webbing. I roar and growl. I try to get free thrashing angryily before just becoming panicked. I cry out and struggling more. I roar out fear coming apparent. As tarantulas pointed that thing at them they told them that they would always love him.

I squeezed my eyes shut struggle to breathe for how much I was gasping and crying. It was reminding me so much of something that happened at that lab. The others came and we were released from the webs. I instantly push myself back. One hand grips over my chest while the other tangled in my hair. I was gasping to breath at this point. Ghost started to come but the world was fading form me and taking me back to the lab. I felt a hand on my shoulder and jumped backwards away from it. My eyes focused just to see Dottie and Alex kneeled down to see if I was alright. "Nyra it's okay baby. Everythings okay." Dottie says they all looked at me with worrie but I wasn't ready to talk about what happened in the lab. "It's okay. Just take deep breaths. It's okay your safe." Dottie says. I look at her and take deep breaths  but it wasn't enough. I was calming down but was still very afraid and the world around fading slightly. I look at them before getting up. I was scared. I hated being restrained. Not after the lab. The sacred that glitter over my body form them. I had run off as we were heading back. With one thought on my mind. Shadow.
