The chaos in the royal palace had finally settled down, but the echoes of laughter were still fresh in the air. The glitter-covered T'Challa had quickly learned that his role as king didn’t always protect him from pranks, especially when Shuri and her friends were involved. As the evening continued, T'Challa, though still a little embarrassed, had taken his defeat in stride, deciding to join in the lighthearted atmosphere rather than let it ruin the night.
As the mischievous trio—Peter, Morgan, and Harley—settled down from their victorious prank, the mood shifted from playful chaos to something a little more reflective.
Shuri, still giggling at the sight of her brother, took a moment to calm herself before she turned toward Morgan and Harley. “Alright, alright,” she began, still chuckling, “I have to admit, you guys know how to have fun. But let’s not forget why we’re really here tonight. Morgan, Harley, congratulations again on your engagement! You two make an incredible pair. We’re all so happy for you.”
Morgan and Harley exchanged glances, their faces lighting up with smiles. “Thanks, Shuri,” Morgan said warmly. “That means a lot coming from you.”
Harley added, “Yeah, we’re so lucky to be here, surrounded by such an amazing family. I know it sounds cheesy, but it really feels like a dream.”
“Well,” T'Challa said, finally brushing some of the glitter from his hair, “You’re officially part of the royal family now, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have you. No matter what pranks we pull on each other, we’ve got your back.”
The warmth in T'Challa’s voice was unmistakable, a reminder that, even amidst the chaos, family was at the heart of everything.
Meanwhile, Flash, Jason, and Rachel had been standing nearby, watching the interaction with a mix of curiosity and, of course, skepticism. Flash, who had been eyeing Morgan and Harley since they arrived, couldn't help but mutter under his breath.
“Yeah, sure, they’re ‘family’ now,” Flash sneered, crossing his arms. “Like, what, because they’ve pulled a couple of pranks and made nice with T'Challa, they’re suddenly royalty?”
Jason snorted in response. “Royalty? Please. They’re just using T'Challa to get what they want. It’s all part of the game.”
Rachel, who had been unusually quiet until now, added her own snarky comment. “And let’s not forget their little ‘connections.’ Makes you wonder what kind of dirt they’ve got on everyone.”
Peter, Morgan, and Harley overheard the comments and exchanged looks, but none of them took the bait. Instead, they kept their attention on T'Challa, who had continued to speak with them in a genuine and caring manner. They didn’t need to defend themselves, not with the support they had from those who mattered most.
T'Challa, noticing the tension between the group and the outsiders, leaned closer to Shuri, his voice low but firm. “Ignore them,” he said with a slight smirk. “Let them talk. We know who they are, and I have no problem making it clear that they’ll never belong to our family.”
Shuri nodded in agreement, shooting Flash, Jason, and Rachel a quick, pointed look. “You know, it’s really cute when they think they’re clever,” she said sweetly. “But I’m afraid there’s only one way to truly earn respect in Wakanda, and it’s not by standing on the sidelines throwing shade.”
Morgan smirked at Shuri’s words, glad that someone was backing them up. "Guess we should just keep focusing on the important stuff," she said. "Like enjoying the rest of this beautiful night."
Harley added, “Yeah, pranks and all, we’re still part of the royal family. And nothing anyone says will change that.”
Flash and Jason didn’t have much to say in response, their snide remarks falling flat as T'Challa’s composed demeanor radiated confidence.
