Creek in the Woods

It was a beautiful day outside. The leaves were changing color. There was also a nice breeze as I crossed the fence to the woods.

My best friend Petra a tall strawberry-blonde boy. Had told me to meet up with him in the woods just outside the boundaries of Tregan. We knew we were breaking the law but neither of us cared that much. I mean the worst thing that could happen was getting our hands cut off since it would only be a minor crime.

Once I got there I waited silently for him. Scanning the area to check for any cameras of some sort.

"What's up Rei?" he asked, coming up behind me. Which made me jump slightly. "Gosh, Petra are you trying to give me a heart attack or something?" I said. He laughed slightly "No, I just thought you'd have better awareness since you're such a worry wart all the time." he stated as he gave me a pat on the shoulder.

"So why'd you want to meet up again?" I questioned. "Oh yeah, I found something I thought you like but it's pretty far from here. You down?" he asked. I nodded slightly intrigued about whatever he had to show me.

Once he started walking I followed shortly after him as we walked in silence and slowly became torture for me. So I spoke up as I saw Scarlet Tanager on one of the trees. "Hey, Petra look at that." I said quietly as I pointed to it. He turned to see what I was talking about. "Yeah it's pretty." he said with a smile. Which made me smile as well. Gosh, his smile was contagious.

After what I'd say is three miles we made it to the place he was talking about. A creek. Clearer than my soul. I could see the bottom of it. There were a few animals around it such as a few rabbits and a doe that soon left since we were there.

"I never knew you actually had some taste in landscapes." I teased. He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, it reminds me of you. Beautiful as you say." he mumbled. I glanced over at him. He wasn't normally one to compliment me. "Thanks..." I mumbled.
Suddenly I was pushed into the bushes with a thud I landed on them. Seeing Petra beside me I could tell something was wrong. But I reacted anyway "What the heck Petra?" I muttered. He clasped my mouth shut with his hand, as he stayed quiet. I took his hand off and silently waited to see what he'd do next.

We waited for almost 15 minutes before he got back up lending me a hand. "What was that for?" I questioned. "Pigeon." he mumbled. Oh...I should have realized that one of the birds the government uses as a spy.

Once we were both standing he brushed the dirt off his pants. "Thanks, I guess." I said. He nodded back at the creek I took my boots off and stepped in the water. I felt like messing around so I pulled Petra in with me. "Rei. You..!" he exclaimed as he scooped some water up and dumped it on me. I scooped up some water as well and he knew what I was gonna do. This went on for a while but by the end of it, we were sitting at the edge of the creek with our feet in the water.

"That was fun." I mumbled. "Yeah." he agreed. "Rei we should probably get going unless you want to camp here." Petra said. "I'm good. Let's go." I said standing up and giving him a hand.

After a few seconds, he didn't let go, which confused me slightly. Then he said "But before that." as he stepped closer to me he tilted my head up towards his face before his soft lips met mine.
