47| Geraldine

"The bucket's just there."

Alice said pointing at the bucket that she had just conjured under the sink.

"Huh? You're right."

Geraldine said grabbing the bucket, Alice letting out a breath when the woman could physically touch it. As the woman went to stand up Wanda grabbed the bowl of fruit on their table holding over her stomach, Alice thought "like that's going to work".

"Would you look at that?"

The woman said, Alice looking at the woman confused, that was not what she had expected the woman to say.

"What?"

Wanda asked, hoping the woman was not talking about her very obvious baby bump.

"Fruit. Wanda! Thank you."

The woman said as she made her way over to Wanda, Alice staring at her confused as she did this, was this woman truly oblivious.

"Yummy."

Geraldine said throwing the apple that she had just taken into the air, and catching it before taking a bite out of it.

"Well, good luck with that leak."

Wanda said as her and Alice followed the woman to make sure she actually left.

"Oh, that... Oh! Say, Wanda, I've got a question for you."

Geraldine said moving to the couch instead of just leaving, really starting to get on Alice's nerves.

"You know how I've been working that temp job, right?"

Geraldine asked, neither of the Maximoff's knew what the woman was talking about.

"No, but I have feeling she's gonna keep talking anyway."

Alice whispered to her mother, getting a slight chuckle out of the woman. If Inez was here she'd be doubled over laughing at what Alice had said whilst also being proud that the girl had said it.

"Well, my boss, Mr Haddox, he was going crazy yesterday..."

The woman went on to say, this didn't surprise Alice which did surprise Alice and her mother was the fact that there was a stalk behind the woman, like a full ass bird. Geraldine cut herself off as she saw Wanda and Alice staring blankly at the bird.

"Oh, look at me going on and on like you got all the time in the world."

Geraldine said as she got herself up off the couch, Wanda and Alice immediately trying to stop her. Alice would have tried to make the bird invisible but she hadn't quite gotten the hang of making other things invisible and it would let spill to the woman and kind of her mother that she was a witch.

"Let me go on and get out-"

"Wait. No."

Wanda interrupted the woman as she went to turn to leave, the bird directly in the woman's exit path, there was no way she wouldn't have seen it.

"Tell us about this temp job."

Wanda then told the woman, like both her and Alice wanted to hear about it, when in reality neither of them did.

"Oh, that's my girl."

Geraldine exclaimed as she sat back down on the couch, Wanda making Alice sit in the armchair as the woman started to talk again.

"So, yesterday my boss, Mr Haddox, was going crazy working on the slogan for a new breakfast cereal."

The woman said, Alice and Wanda paying more attention to the stalk that was now walking away from them.
