white and gold fowers filled the walkway as the sweet little girl in her white and pink floral dress spread the rose pedals on the isle getting distracted by the people awwing and whispering about how cute she is.
The crowd goes quiet as the bride walked down the isle. She wore a long white dress that dragged behind her, on her head sat a Vail that covered her face, gracefully floating behind her due to the slight comforting wind. The smell of lavender filled the air along with the sweet melody of the piano.
The bride gets half way down the isle before looking up at her soon to be husband, her face fell slightly as she saw that he wasn't even looking at her but instead looking at the beautiful lady that sat on the front row on his side.
The bride didn't recognize who the lady was, she wore a long red dress that made her stick out like a robin in a field of swans. The mysterious lady had long black silky hair and an enchanting smile, who was she smiling at?
The bride looks up seeing the groom smiling right back at the lady. The bride didnt have to know the lady to know that he loved her just by the look they gave each other.
The bride stops at the end of the steps only then does the groom look at her along with everyone giving her a worried look not knowing why she stopped. Not wanting to disappoint her family she slowly walks up the steps standing in front of the groom who gave one last glance at the lady before giving his attention to the bride.
She held back tears trying not to streak her makeup.
"We are gathered here today to ceebrate the love and commitment of Amilia and John as they join together in marriage" The brides best friend said as she stood at the alter.
"We gather in this beautiful setting to witness the union of two souls who have found in eachother not only love but also friendship, laughter, and unwavering support," as she spoke those words the bride grew ill. Love? Hate. Friends? Enemys. Laughter? Cries. Not a drop of support.
"Amilia and John" The bride looked up at the groom as her friend spoke their names like they where meant to be, two Jem's collided to make something beautiful, something cherrishable, something. . .broken.
"Your journey together has been nothing short of extraordinary from being highschool sweethearts to building a beautiful partnership" She spoke loud and clear, maybe to clear because as she spoke John winced but not in pain with the big smirk across his face but perhaps annoyance at how long he had been with Amilia. Like he intended on getting rid of her long ago.
"To all their guests they are happy to share this moment with you, they have known most of you for many years. You watched them grow up, you went to school with them, or you worked with them. You are here because you are the ones to share this once in a lifetime moment with them" Once in a lifetime moment, that sentence was funny to Amilia, she knew her friend had been married three times so surely she could get married again, or not marry at all.
"Amilia and John" Amilia grew ill once again at their names together, it wasn't right, they weren't meant to be and she knew that.
"This is the moment you've been waiting for, the opportunity to express the depth of your love and commitment to one another through your personal vows" the vows, the one thing Amilia had been dreading.
"Please share with each other your promises for a lifetime of love, support, and devotion. John you may go first" she spoke looking up at John who gave her a "friendly" smile as he reached in his pocket grabbing his vows.
"Amilia Layle Corbin" He spoke the brides name like it was a bitter taste in his mouth.
"Exactly 10 years 8 months and 14 days ago from now I made the second best decision of my life, I asked you to be my girlfriend. Somehow 16 year old me, football jocky, girl magnet ended up looking right your way" the crowd laughed like he was some kind of comedien telling jokes about his life.
"Listening to you play the sweetest melody I have ever heard on your beautiful silver flute" Amilia frowned, she played the clarinet not the flute and she was never good at it. She was better with art but had to take a band class because art was closed.
"Life has never been the same since the day I saw you. Growing up with you has not only been the best time of my life but its also been the happiest, you are my safire." He spoke his words quite like he had to be somewhere, he didn't shed a single tear.
"safire" as he spoke that word Amilia looks over at the lady in the red dress. Looking at her she realizes finally who she is and it all made sense. The vows where not for her but for the lady, Jessica Scott.
Jessica Scott was the top in her class, she was also the one and only loudest flute player in her band who won them all the trophies. Amilia stood right beside Jessica that day John Looked at, not her, but Jessica. As everything clicked a few tears dripped down Amilias face.
"You are beautiful, smart, and you always keep me on my toes. I really don't have an answer with how I got so lucky, but every day I get to wakeup to you it feels like I've won the lottery, again." He laughs with the fakest smile Amilia has ever seen.
"With that being said I vow to keep you safe and be the man in your life to never make you worry. I vow my loyalty will never change and my love to you will always grow. I vow to protect you until my beating heart dies, I love you." He finished his vows quickly looking around at the crowd only to steal a glance at Jessica. That was it, Amilia had enuf of this silly play.
"That was beautiful John, Amilia you may speak your vows now" Her friend spoke as all eyes moved to Amilia.
Nervous she took out her vows looking them over now that they meant nothing, tears threatened to spill as she spoke slowly.
"John Lee Permin, I never thought in highschool being the clarinet player in band and not one of the beautiful flute players would change my entire life. Never did I think at the age of 15 I would fall for a jock like you, I was just a girl trying to look like all the others but you saw right past that, you saw me for who I was and who I wanted to be." She looked up at John who barley payed her any attention.
"but now standing here with you" she adds dropping her vows and looking John in the eyes.
"I realize that the girl I was fell for a jerk, a lier, a cheater." the crowd look around confused whispering to each other. As for John he finally looked at her surprised.
"She didnt fall for a poor, lonely, jock she fell for the rich bitch lie she didn't see." Johns face grew red with anger, maybe embaresment as well.
"Standing here with you I realize I don't want to spend my life with you. I hate this, I hate you." She flips her Vail off her face and drags her hand across her face smeering and peeling her makeup off revieling a beaten face. The crowd gasps a few standing up in shock.
"I realize we will both be better apart, be with the woman you love John, the woman those vows where actually for." Amilia looks at Jessica who was standing with her hand on her chest.
Amilia takes one last look at John before turning and walking down the isle, ending the marriage before it ever began.
