The campus was alive with the usual hustle and bustle of students rushing between classes, laughing in groups, and enjoying the brief moments of freedom before the next wave of exams hit. The warm sunlight filtered through the trees, casting shadows over the old stone buildings. It was the kind of day where the world seemed perfect, but for Jungkook, nothing felt right.

He wasn’t in a bad mood exactly—more like irritated. Annoyed.

Jungkook adjusted the strap of his backpack and strode into the main building, heading toward his first class. He hated how every step seemed to echo louder than it should. The air was thick with the usual chaos, but he couldn’t shake the feeling of something being off. Maybe it was just the fact that he had to deal with *him* again today.

Taehyung.

Just thinking about the name made his blood simmer.

Jungkook found his seat, far from the main group of students who were engaged in lively conversation. He was trying to keep a low profile, to focus, when the door opened.

And there he was.

Taehyung walked into the classroom like he owned the place, his signature messy brown hair falling over his eyes in that infuriatingly charming way. He didn’t look at anyone—didn’t need to—because the moment his presence was felt, the room shifted. It always did.

“Taehyung,” a few of the girls murmured as he passed, sending flirtatious glances in his direction. Taehyung gave them a smile, but it wasn’t the flirty type. It was something softer, more sincere. A smile that made Jungkook’s chest tighten for reasons he couldn’t explain.

Taehyung chose the seat directly behind Jungkook, as if by fate or pure annoyance.

Jungkook tried to ignore him, but that was impossible. Taehyung leaned forward, tapping his pen on the back of Jungkook’s chair in an oddly rhythmic way.

"Hey, Kook," Taehyung said, his voice almost teasing. "You going to just sit there or actually pay attention today?"

Jungkook’s hand tightened around his pen, his jaw clenching. *Not today. Not today,* he repeated in his mind, trying to keep his cool.

"I’m busy, Taehyung," Jungkook muttered, not bothering to look back at him.

Taehyung chuckled, unfazed. "I can see that. You always look so busy, but you never actually get anything done."

Jungkook’s patience snapped. He turned in his chair, his eyes narrowing. "Are you trying to get on my nerves again?"

"Am I?" Taehyung asked, raising an eyebrow as if he didn’t know the answer. "I thought we were just talking."

"You’re not funny," Jungkook said, his tone cold, almost calculated.

Taehyung leaned back, crossing his arms. "I never said I was. But I’d be careful if I were you. You’re making enemies out of everyone, Jungkook."

Jungkook felt his pulse quicken. "What’s that supposed to mean?"

Taehyung smiled, that knowing smile that irritated Jungkook to no end. "You’re so easy to provoke, and yet you don’t even realize it."

For a moment, the classroom seemed to fall away. Jungkook’s world narrowed down to just Taehyung, the mysterious boy who could make him feel everything and nothing all at once.

*Why does this guy make me so angry?*

"Maybe you should leave me alone," Jungkook said, his voice low, a warning.

Taehyung’s gaze softened just a fraction, and for a moment, Jungkook could have sworn he saw something else in his eyes. But it was gone before he could fully process it.

"Sure, Jungkook. Whatever you say," Taehyung replied, his tone lighter now. He leaned back in his seat, as if the entire exchange meant nothing to him.

But Jungkook couldn’t shake the feeling that it meant everything.
