Kwanruetai returned home and headed straight to the kitchen. She spent a lot of time dealing with the chaos of each day. It was now three in the afternoon, but she still had to prepare food to deliver to several homes. Aside from laundry, Kwanruetai also cooked food to sell at the hospital. Fortunately, her older brother helped her, which eased her burden significantly. The young woman picked vegetables to wash and chop, preparing ingredients for dinner, although some of the components had already been prepared since this morning.
Her hand, which was stirring the food, paused as she couldn't help but think of Phorn. Phorn's house was not far from hers, so she had been close to him since childhood. Today, seeing the condition of someone she regarded as a brother made her heart sink. What troubled Kwanruetai was Phorn's fearful expression. More importantly, it seemed like Phorn was trying to tell her something. Unfortunately, his voice was so hoarse that the young woman couldn't understand. As she was lost in thought, suddenly someone tapped her on the shoulder.
“Hey, Kwan! What are you daydreaming about? The vegetables are burnt!”
When she looked down into the pan, she found that her stir-fried vegetables were charred. The young woman quickly turns off the fire and pours the food onto the plate, muttering in frustration.
“Damn it... I just got a little distracted.”
The older brother made a serious face before scolding in a stern voice, “I told you not to speak rudely. As a woman, how will anyone want to ask for your hand?”
“Oh come on, P’Kong, I don’t want to get married at all.” the younger sibling retorted. Kongphop’s face looked even more serious.
“You just don’t learn. You’ve been spending time with that guy Mai and that guy Samlee for so long. Look at you, dressing more like a man every day.”
“Come on, P’Kong, why so serious? I just got a little carried away.”
“By the way, why were you so lost in thought that you burned all the vegetables in the pan? It’s a waste.”
These foods would probably have to be thrown away. Thinking about it made the young woman even angrier at herself for being distracted.
“I was um... just thinking about something fun, Brother.”
“What do you mean by fun? Is it about that guy from Bangkok?”
“Oh no... not at all, Brother. Why would I think about him?” Kongphop squinted suspiciously.
“Well, if that guy dares to bully Kwan, you must tell me immediately. I’ll go teach him a lesson,” the older brother threatened. Kwanruetai touched her brother's arm.
“It’s really not about him, it’s about P’Phorn.”
“Phorn? What about him?”
“Well, P’Phorn gained consciousness today. I visited him at the hospital. The doctor just took out the breathing tube, but P’Phorn still has a hoarse voice and can’t speak.”
“Oh, I’m really happy for Aunt and Nuch. We’ve already lost one good hunter. I hope nothing happens to P’Phorn.”
“But it’s sad that P’Phorn has to have her leg amputated. It’s going to take a long time for him to recover.”
"It's okay, P'Phon is a strong person. I believe he will stabilize himself, and it’s our duty to help support him. By the way, if P’Phorn is already awake, why does Kwan have to be worried?"
"It's just that P'Phorn seems want to say something, but no matter how I listen, I can't understand."
Kwanruetai tried to recall the events but still did not understand what Phorn was trying to convey. The young woman decided that tomorrow she would visit the young man again and would also inquire about the person who harmed them.
