ISOBEL."

"Katherine is back in Mystic Falls." Isobel greets Mercy through the phone, and it instantly makes her smile. She glances toward Niklaus, who is reading a book. He motions his hand for mercy to let Isobel continue.

"Is that so? Why?"  Mercy asks.

"I don't know. She didn't say." Isobel answers breathlessly, seemingly nervous.

"How useless."  Mercy ends the call, looking at Niklaus's grin. I guess Katherine finally learned of our doppelgänger." She glances at her watch and sighs. It's only a matter of time before Damon calls her to tell her what Isobel has just told her.

Klaus releases a hum, "She is eighteen now. Is it legal enough to be part of the sacrifice? Well, almost." Niklaus teases and  Mercy rolls her eyes at him. She dismisses him, "Katherine doesn't want Isobel to know why she is in Mystic Falls because Katherine is serving her daughter on a silver platter for you. Isobel interrupting will destroy Katherine's plan." She concludes, and Niklaus gives her an impressed look. Closing his book shut and placed it on the coffee table, switching it with a glass of whiskey.

"And Katerina thinks that I will give her freedom. She's wrong. I intend to torture her first, then let her go, then torture her, and the cycle repeats." Niklaus takes a sip of his whiskey, ankle on the knee, as he leans on his leather seat. Mercy scoffs at him, "You have that kind of free time."

"We are immortal, love. I need entertainment," Niklaus answers smoothly. I will have all the time in the world after I break our curse."

Then make your little hybrid mutts."  Mercy smiled, and Niklaus feigned offence. " You are calling yourself one too and me ." He placed his hand on his chest, where his heart resides.

" shut up?"  Mercy then mimics a dog's bark when her phone rings. She laughs at him, shushes him with her fingers, and he raises his arms in mock defence.

 Mercy answered her phone as Damon didn't give her time to speak. "Katherine's back in town."

She fakes a tone of surprise while Niklaus hides a chuckle, "Really? Why?"

"You are just as clueless as I am. Can you drive here?" Damon asks, and Mercy ponders for a while, making Damon think that she is thinking of her decision.

"Where will I stay?"  Mercy asks, looking at Niklaus, her eyes indicating that he owes her. Niklaus waves his other hand while he takes a sip of whiskey.

"Stay at my house while you're here." Damon offers, and  Mercy sighs, answering. "Sure. I want the biggest guest room in the house with the prettiest bathroom."

"Deal."

"I'll be there by tomorrow." Mercy ends the call before Damon can reply.  Mercy places her phone beside her, and she crosses her arms at Niklaus with a raised eyebrow.

"Out with it." Niklaus sighs heavily as his jaw tightens, looking at mercy expectantly-annoyedly.

"That house is ugly, and I don't want to stay there for how long I'll be there," mercy tells him, and Niklaus's expression is serious as he looks Mercy in the eye, and she stares at him too with a pierced look.

Staring contests is the usual with them when Mercy wants something from him, and she will get it too often for Niklaus's liking.

"Fine." Niklaus spits out with a scoff. "What do you want?"

 Mercy hums in amusement. Leaning back on her seat with a smile coming up her face. "I want a house with a big garden, and you'll pay for my expenses while I'm in there."

 "Done. I'll look into it." Niklaus sighs in defeat, taking his phone as he starts to type. 

"I better pack then."  Mercy stands up from her seat and she tilts her head at him, "Ready to break your curse?"

Niklaus looks at her with excitement, but he gives her a shrug. He waves his hand at her in dismissal. "Waited for centuries. I can wait for a few more months. Go entertain yourself first." He answers a little forced, and Mercy furrows her eyebrows at him. His answer came to her as a shock.

Why is Niklaus Mikaelson so lenient with her?

 Mercy nods and exits his office room.
