The night was thick with the scent of rain, and the city seemed to hold its breath as if waiting for something-someone-to break the silence. In the flickering light of the streetlamps, Manohari stood at the edge of the road, her mind racing faster than her heartbeat. Every street corner she passed, every shadow she crossed, felt like a part of her father's life she could no longer touch. Every day since his death had been a struggle-unanswered questions, broken memories, and the gnawing feeling that something, someone, was hiding the truth.
Her father's death had been ruled an accident. A heart attack in the middle of a heated political meeting. But Manohari knew better. He had been involved in something dangerous-something he couldn't talk about. And now, almost a year later, she had come to one terrifying conclusion: the man who knew the truth wasn't just any ordinary person. He was Aarav.
She had heard his name before. In hushed conversations at the dinner table, whispered by people who feared even speaking his name aloud. A businessman. A politician. A criminal. No one knew exactly what Aarav was, but everyone feared him.
