The day after her flight, Ash was filled with new energy to find Liora. Even though she had no idea where to start with the search, she had high hopes.
After she got dressed, she went downstairs to ask at reception for some of the most famous places in the city. She also wanted to figure out, where she could get some breakfast, because she didn't eat dinner the night before.
At reception was the same guy as the night before and when he saw Ash come out of the lift, he smiled warmly. "Good morning, how can I help you today?", he asked. Ash wondered if he got some sleep or why else he was in such a good mood.
"Hi, I wondered where I could get something for breakfast; and maybe you could tell me some of the best sightseeing places around here?", Ash asked. She tried to be as friendly as the receptionist, but she was too tired to do so.
He immediately started nodding. "Of course! The best breakfast in this area is at the café down the street. You walk directly towards it. The cheapest would be at a stand two streets further", he pointed in the direction she would need to go for each option. "If you're looking for the best places to visit, here are some must-see spots: The City of Arts and Sciences; this is Valencia's most famous landmark. It's like stepping into the future! You can visit the Oceanogràfic, the largest aquarium in Europe, or enjoy a film at the Hemisfèric. Even just walking around the complex and admiring the modern architecture is a treat.
Then there are the Turia Gardens; this beautiful park runs through the city and is perfect for walking, biking, or just relaxing. Also a popular meeting spot to hang out with friends.
Don't miss out on Plaça de la Reina and the Valencia Cathedral. The Plaza is in the heart of the city and has some great restaurants and cafes. Climb the Miguelete Tower next to the cathedral for an amazing view of Valencia—it's worth the effort!
If you love food, the Mercado Central is must-see. The fresh produce, local delicacies, and vibrant atmosphere make it an unforgettable experience. Plus, the building itself is a masterpiece of Art Nouveau architecture.
Looking for some sea and sand? Malvarrosa Beach is the place to go, but it's not really the time to go swimming now.
The historic neighbourhood of Barrio del Carmen is full of character. You'll find narrow streets, lively squares, street art, and a mix of old and modern Valencia.
And last but not least La Lonja de la Seda. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a stunning piece of Gothic architecture. It was once a silk exchange and is a great place to dive into Valencia's history.
If you want, I can give you a brochure that covers everything", the receptionist concluded his explanation.
"Thank you so much. That was far more than I expected", was Ash's honest reaction. She took the brochure because there was no way she could remember all the things he just said.
She made her way to the closer café, because she preferred a quality breakfast over a cheap one, especially since she earned enough money to afford the quality. It was comparatively early, so the streets looked almost empty. Ash thought to herself "That's on going on vacation with Nicolas, waking up at six every morning."
As she reached the café and ordered some tea and a sandwich. She sat in a corner of the café, planning her day. "I should definitely check out the plazas and parks, the receptionist told me about", she thought as she looked at the brochure.
After her breakfast she set off to the Barrio del Carmen, which turned out to be even more beautiful than expected. She took some photos but also kept looking for Liora. But Liora was nowhere to be seen.
