"Merida?" The Queen asked, looking for the young lass. Merida giggled from under the table where she his. Her mother grabbed her and pretended to gobble her up. Her father came back from the forest. He sat his bow on the table.

"No weapons on the table." The queen sighed. Merida grabbed the bow.

"Can I shoot an arrow!? Please!" She giggled falling on her bottom because of the weight of his bow.

"Not with that, but... With your very own."He smiled pulling the tiny bow out of his cape. Merida's eyes glistened. "Happy Birthday me wee lass." Moments later, he sat up a target and started to teach Merida how to shoot her arrows. When he informed her how she should pose her self, the arrow she shot flew far over the target into the forest.

"I missed."

"It's ok, how bout ye go get it." Her mother comforted. Merida smiled and bounded into the forest to retrieve it.
Where are you, Merida wondered. "Ah, Help! Someone! Help! Please!" Merida jumped behind a tree when she heard the cry. It sounded like a boy in pain. And it was a boy, with brown ruffled hair, emerald green eyes, and freckles. She stepped out from behind the tree. And walked towards him.

Hiccup saw her. She had fiery red hair and crystal clear blue eyes. But he didn't ask who she was because the pain from the arrow in his arm was terrible.

"Who are you?" He barely heard her.

"Could you get help?" Hiccup pleaded. He heard her gasp.

"Me arrow!" She screamed. He felt her grip the arrow.

"Wait! Wai-" he panicked. But she pulled it straight out. "Ahh!" He cried holding the place the arrow was at. He shot a look at her.

"It wasn't that bad." Merida giggled. " here." Merida smiled grabbing a leaf and piece of vine from a tree nearby. She wrapped it around the punctured arm.

"Thanks." He mumbled.

"No problem!" She said then backed away from him. "I'm Merida and I'm 5."

"My names Hiccup and I'm 6 and a ha-" he stopped mid sentence.

"What?" Merida asked. Hiccup pointed at the tiny floating blue man across from them. "A whisp!" Merida whispered with awe. Both of them walked towards it but Merida reached for it. It disappeared for a second but then more appeared. Wow, Hiccup thought.

"Come on!" Merida beckoned while following the trail of whisp. Hiccup was about to run after her but...

"Hiccup!" Yelled his dad. Uh oh, he thought. Merida stopped and looked back.

"Yah have tuh go?" Merida asked.

"Yeah, but meet here tomorrow?" He asked.

"Yeah, see yuh *hiccup*" She covered her mouth. He fell onto the ground laughing so hard that he couldnt catch Merida's threat to shoot him with a arrow. It was just nobody ever really hiccuped his name before. When he came to she was walking away from him.

"Bye, umm? Uh?" He called.

"Merida!" She laughed before hopping over the log on the horizon.
Hiccup followed the trail leading back to his house.

"Hiccup?" His dad scolded. Hiccup turned slowly around to face him. His dad had his usually who, what, when, where, why, how look. "Talk!" He demanded. After an hour and a half of explaining what happened. He has grounded. But Hiccup ease dropped on his father.

"What am I gonna do with him?"

"Well I can use help around the shop."

"No I'm serious."

"And I'm serious."

"I guess your right old pal," it was silent for awhile, "ok... He's all yours."
